This was probably one of the best, well rounded and structured tours we had in El Salvador. This tour was private and guided. We first started in Joya de Ceren, San Andres, and ended in Tazumal. Our guide was a safe driver, knowledgeable and passionate about the country’s ancient history and culture. He was also flexible with the time we spent at all the sites. I highly recommend this tour, your guide may be different than ours.
We just returned from a trip to San Salvador. First of all, wow, what a country. Safe, beautiful and affordable (thus far)! In 5 years El Salvador will be a must visit destination for the North American tourists. People are very friendly, country is super safe and gorgeous. Secondly, we booked all our tours directly with the operator, EC Tours. It was super easy. The owner, Edwin, is very responsive and helpful. His recommendations were top notch. We took 5 different tours with them in 5 days ( ie free walking tour around San Salvador; Santa Ana Volcano & Cerro Verde; Cerro Verde Tour (San Andres – cerro Verde – Tazumal; Barra de Santiago; and Suchitoto and Ilopango Lake). Sounds exhausting….and it was, but once you see what El Salvador has to offer, you will likely end up taking a tour every day. Those volcanic lakes (and the water itself is transcending), volcanoes and Mayan ruins are so special. Local people are super friendly and kind. Our guide, Gerson, was very knowledgeable, punctual and funny, with good English. He went above and beyond making our visit special. He recommended local restaurants and dishes, entertainment spots and took us to places we would never otherwise visit, and made us laugh. In short, El Salvador is a hidden gem that I highly recommend that you visit one day. EC Tours is all you need there, they will pick you up at the airport and proudly show their country to you (and you will say wow, guaranteed). I hope this will be of some assistance to some of you!
We did several tours with EC while we were in El Salvador in August 2026. Each morning our guide (Deily) and driver (Manuel) were waiting for us with welcoming smiles. We began the day with a city tour, including the national library and significant churches. The tour company paid any admission fees throughout the day. We went to Joya de Ceren in the early afternoon. (Nice clean restrooms and a great snack bar with homemade goodies and ice cream.) We visited the small but interesting museum and strolled at a leisurely pace (not crowded on the day we went) through the site, which is covered for the sake of the valuable archeological finds. Our guide explained various parts of the villages, etc. After our visit we went to a great mountain restaurant for papusas, took some amazing pictures of the city. We then drove up to El Boqueron National Park and walked up to the top and looked down on the caldera.
Stephanie is a very knowledgeable guide. She knew everything. We also asked to do a couple things off your and she was very amenable. The volcano visit was great. Overall one of the best tours we went on ever and we have been to more than 40 countries!
We had another great vacation thanks to EC Tours El Salvador! Our tour guide, Steffany, and driver Sandra truly made our trip so enjoyable and full of laughter. Everything was perfect, from the volcano hiking, Mayan ruins, sightseeing and relaxing at the beach EC Tours took care of everything for us. EC Tours is the only tour company I will use when I visit El Salvador again and again and again. Thank you so much!!!
Good Experience with Alfredo Diaz. I enjoyed my time and we were able to see the three Mayan sites, the beautiful Lake Coatepeque, and Santa Ana downtown.
This is our 3rd tour with the company. The arrangement great and fast via whatsapp. Our guide Joycelyn was very punctual within the pick up time and flexible drop off in the city. Joycelyn is very friendly and flexible. Her English is very good and we enjoyed hearing her experience. We enjoyed the explanation and 3 Mayan sites. Though the sites are not as spectacular as the ones in Mexico and Belize.
I went on a private tour with my mom. Wendy was our guide and she was excellent. I would definitely recommend this tour!!!
Wow what an amazing tour! The Mayan ruins are absolutely breathtaking. My tour guide Steve was very knowledgeable of each site and the history of the Mayan people. I highly recommend this tour with Steve and EC Tours, you won't be disappointed.
