We received a warm welcome from Saro our wonderful host, me and my friends were in super ease with our transfers. The rafting guide was amazing and instructed us well. The experience was excellent and the view was beyond serene. The horse riding 🏇 was fun and exciting and we were just amazed by the whole experience. We are grateful and are taking back a ton of happy memories.
Our host saro was amazing, he did a great job for arranging amazing lunch with a wonderful view with my friends, river rafting and horse riding. He was super calm and fun all the time. Will deff get those experiences again with saro along with my friends.
This could have been a 5 star review, had our host Saro been better prepared for the camping trip. We were a group of 5: two women and 3 kids ages 14, 12, and 10. We are experienced hikers and campers. Things we loved on the trip: - our gregarious driver Robert - GORGEOUS canyon with intoxicating wild flowers - very kind welcoming people all around from Saro, to the hotel host who fed us lunch to the rafting crew. - great traditional Armenian food - good quality tents and sleeping bags - beautiful horses - (mostly) fun rafting experience on the river Saro's horses are very mild and easy to ride. I would, however, recommend avoiding riding through the village. We encountered an aggressive neighbor stallion on our way back from our lovely ride in the fields, and he spooked our horses. It was also unfortunate that Saro double booked himself on Day 1 of the trip, and did have the time to set up camp before dark and bring all the necessary (in my opinion) supplies such as flashlights, cups, and whistles to ward off the wildlife which so plentiful in Armenia mountains (we heard a pack of wolves howling in the night!). The second very unfortunate part happened on the rafting trip. Saro did not follow the directions of our raft captain, and the two got into three very intense verbal arguments while we were floating on the mountain river. Not the safest of places to get into an argument. Also, it was unfortunate that Saro took off his gear to swim in the river despite strong objections from everyone. This set a bad example for my children. It is my hope that in the future Saro will be more careful about his bookings, and either avoid getting on the raft or follow the instructor to make the trip enjoyable for everyone.
First, regarding wildlife. You can't hear any sound of wolves or find even any trace of a wolf because there is no wolf in that area, and the sounds are from wild dogs which are very small in our region and can not be any harm to humans. On the other hand, when we offer camping we take care of all safety measures and take responsibility for health and safety. Regarding the rafting tour. There are three different rafting companies operating on the Debed River and that was the first time we cooperated with the newly opened company. Personally, I do not participate in rafting tours as a norm. That time I participated only because there were three kids in the group and the adults were not experienced rafters. I have swum in the Debed River since my early childhood and I know that I am a good swimmer. It is right, I jumped into the water where the flow of the river calmed down because the weather was very hot and we had done more than a 2-hour hike. But the most intense dispute broke out between me and the rafting guide when neither you nor the guide accepted my so many requests not to jump from the broken bridge with the kids. I was really surprised by such behavior. I hope we accept families who pay more attention to the safety of their kids from now on.
