i found it under whelming. the village itself was over flowing with wonderful ceramics, but the class itself was not a class, just a lot of people sitting on stools playing with clay

Authentic Bát Tràng’s Hanoi Old Quarter pottery class takes place at 115 Hàng Gai, Hoàn Kiếm, Hanoi, rather than in the village mentioned in your review. We have also checked our recent Viator bookings and could not find a reservation matching your reviewer name.
Our classes begin with an introduction to Bát Tràng village and its pottery traditions. Our artisans then demonstrate the pottery-making process step by step, explaining how to shape pieces on the wheel and guiding guests during their practice.
Could you please check the name and address of the workshop you visited? A wonderful experience!!
We had the best afternoon making pottery!! All 3 of us really enjoyed it, Sonny was a wonderful teacher and the time flew by. It was a small group, very central location, very cool with lots of fans and it’s so special picking up your pieces to take home a couple of days later. Would highly recommend.

This was one of the best experience we had in Hanoi. 3hrs pottery experience was worth it. Highly recommend if you want to take home souvenirs from Hanoi created by yourself.

Very nice activity!
It was a very cute experience and all the teachers were very nice and helpful. You can try to make as many things as you want and then you get to choose which ones you want to keep. Now we have a nice self-made souvenir to take home with us 😍

Best souvenirs
I booked a group event, but I was able to receive individual guidance! I have the coolest souvenirs to take home that are unique and beautiful. One piece comes with the experience, but you’re able to make as many as you want and then pay only a few extra bucks to glaze the ones you want to keep. I made two cups, two bowls, and two mugs. I definitely collapsed a lot more clay in the process, so you don’t have to be good to still get to take home something great. My guide was awesome, and she provided me a lot of information on the city.

Creative Experience with beautiful results!
We had plenty of time to create our own plates, mugs, or whatever we wanted. The staff was very helpful, so the results turned out absolutely beautiful. Keep in mind that your pieces will shrink during glazing and firing, so make them a little bigger than you would normally want them to be. I can absolutely recommend this workshop! A big thank you to the whole team.
(Just a small note: If you have back problems, this workshop might not be the best choice, as you’ll be sitting on very small stools for several hours.)

My first pottery experience
The forecast for Hanoi looked rainy and I was looking for something to do when I discovered this pottery class. It had very good reviews and I decided to book it.
It was located on top of the ceramic store. I was met by my teacher Hang. I had never done pottery before and I was a bit insecure in the beginning with handling clay. But Hang was super nice and encouraging, helping me through every step. In the end, I created several pieces that actually looked like plates, cups and bowls, thanks to Hang. Apart from that, it was very nice to talk and to learn about the culture and life in Vietnam as well as in the Bat Trang pottery village. I would definitely recommend to book this class, you will get a great experience and a few ceramic pieces as memories:)
