Had my first trek with Kaushik's Cafe and Trek at Nag Tibba. The people I met were great and very friendly. There were some minor organizing challenges, understandable due to the heavy rainfall the day before. Overall, it was an affordable and authentic experience!
Overall the trip was very good. We booked last minute and it was well organised and the communication was great. The taxi journey was 3-4 hours each way along very windy roads. We completed the trip quicker than anticipated, which meant we were given food at 09.45am but then not dropped back until 18.30 which was a long time to go with no food after a reasonable hike.
It was a great trek. The forest is beautiful and the views from the top are amazing. Missing the mountains/hill/forest since the day I left. So peaceful. Impossible to feel stressed there. Trek isn't too difficult, but going down can be a little hard on the knees. Felt no altitude sickness (9,500 feet at top). Kaushik's Cafe provides good equipment (warm tent/sleeping bag), and the food is v. good. There is a translator who accompanies the Hindi speaking guide for those not fluent. Sometimes I wish they walked a little slower and not ahead of me! It was life changing to see the peaks! Recommend bringing binoculars. Saw an owl. Weather not an issue in Feb. Want to do harder one next time. Ride up to the village is fun/a little harrowing (mountain side two-way road). Overall, highly recommended. Good for beginners who are reasonably fit. Would have been better with a group. Was just me, guide and translator. Cook was at basecamp, where view of moon was v good. Oh, and they're building a western style toilet!
My son took this trek hosted by Kaushik's Cafe. We found K'SC also on TA. Kudos to K,ScC for the excellent adventure. I use the word adventure as it is one- one does not what to quite expect. Neverthe less "the make it happen spirit" and throw in a bit of on the spot quick thinking/aka jugaad made this truly an adventure. Given our schedule we arrived in DehraDun on late evening Saturday, the trek began on Monday and ended on Tuesday. My son had the luxury of an angraizee speaking guide (my son's hindi is very limited), a local person who was also the cook and an overnight stay in a tent all by himself. Being the only customer on the trek, the entourage had some flexibility in timing etc. the weather was in our favour too given the end Feb season. There was some foliage but not dense, that allowed an owl sighting. Also the snow covered peaks (Kedarnath, Bandar Punch etc) were clearly visible from the Naag Tibba summit. Poles were provided for the steep descent on the way back. For the price charged by K,sC the service provided was very worthwhile. Also the ground coordinated Amar of K'sC kept in constant touch with the parents in DD to keep them abreast of the entourage's whereabouts. Limited 5G service was available spotily en route on the trek. Thanks once again.
Recently went on a trek to Nag Tibba with Kaushiks Cafe and had an amazing experience. The guide, tent, camp, everything was really good. The route taken to Basecamp was very beautiful. The only thing I didn't like was the cab service from dehradun to pantwari.. The driver was very rash and paid no attention to us when we asked him to slow down. Kaushiks cafe services were fantastic but they need a better tie-up for cab services.
What a gem! We, a group of 4 girls, had an absolutely amazing experience in our trek with Kaushik's cafe and trek. The whole experience - communication and planning before the trek, the trek guide (Sanjay bhaiya), the camp facilities - everything was superbly managed. The biggest bonus? Ajit and our guide suggested an alternate route on the way up to the base camp which is much more scenic (although slightly longer) and it was the best part of our trek. Highly highly recommended. Thanks Ajit, Sanjay bhaiya and Sardarji for making our experience memorable.
Liked the camp and their services. All of the staff were very friendly and supportive It was an amazing experience, trekking with Sanjay. He is a very friendly and intelligent guy who made the trek a lot easier with his quirky stories.
If you're fir enough then Sanjay will make sure that you get the best of the views. Don't miss the sunrise and sunsets when you're there !
The hospitality of Uttarakhand as a whole is awesome , but this one was special as it was a solo trek (Nag tibba)along with the guide provided to me by the Kaushik Cafe team ( Amit singh). My guide Mr Sardarji along with thorough trail also helped me to explore a lot of local trees and taste a few good vegetables (Mutter And pudina) .The pahadi food cooked was way better , all in all a very good experience of hospitality and trek knowledge making the Summit giving an opportunity to plan many more and let many people know about them. Cheers Chirag.
Guide sanjay was too good and talented as well. 1 of our team member was having issues with his shoes in snow, but he helped him and made his experience enjoyable in such way that he didn't felt that issue. We all made it to summit thanks to him. Teh person we contated I forgot the name helped us even for taking sharing cabs.when I reached pantwari due to curvy roads I was feeling so low so he gave me electroal powder. it's a small gesture which makes ur experience good. We will surely plan our next events with these guys.
