Super Disappointed with this tour. The official guide didn’t guide us for no specific reason and instead sent a young man who was not qualified to lead the tour of Evora. Although Daniel is a nice guy and has lived in Evora for a long time, he didn’t have the expertise or the official credentials to conduct the tour. Our group was composed of 8 scholars who wanted to learn cultural historical information. Instead we received stories that lacked factual certainty and at times were incomplete or even inaccurate. I fault the buisness organization for sending an inexperienced young man to lead the tour and charge $102 per person. But, I also question Viator’s business ethics in allowing this to happen. This is not what we paid for.

We would, however, like to clarify an important point. Daniel is not an unqualified substitute guide. He is a fully qualified member of our professional team, holding both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Cultural Heritage, and he is a native of Évora. He is legally authorised to conduct guided tours and, like all our guides, is properly registered with the relevant authorities and formally employed by our company.
We take the quality, accuracy and interpretation of Évora’s cultural heritage extremely seriously. Our guides are selected for their academic preparation, local knowledge and ability to provide historically responsible and engaging experiences. Daniel is no exception, and his previous guest feedback reflects this.
We fully respect that the experience may not have matched your expectations, and we take constructive criticism seriously. At the same time, we believe it is important to distinguish between a guest’s personal assessment of a tour and factual statements about a guide’s qualifications. The suggestion that we knowingly sent an inexperienced or unqualified guide is simply inaccurate.
We remain proud of the professional standards we have maintained since 2015 and of the team entrusted with representing Évora to our guests.

Best Way to See Evora in a Day
This tour was a highlight of our trip. I cannot say enough good things about Joao. He is very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. Evora was fabulous and having Joao show us around made it even better. Highly recommend to everyone!

Outstanding guide with a...
Outstanding guide with a wealth of knowledge about Evora. Daniel walked at a good pace for a hot day, picking routes in the shade as much as possible while still reaching all of the sites.

The best way to discover Évora
João was one of the best tour guides we had and made the tour around Évora so memorable. He had deep knowledge of the landmarks and the history of the area. I was glad that the tour was exclusively for us - just my partner and I. He was able to customise the tour based on what we would find the most value. It was my partner’s birthday and he made it extra special. He also went above and beyond to make a reservation at the best restaurant in town. I would highly recommend locking in a tour with João to discover Évora.

Great tour!

Evora City Center
Formidable experience! Our guide Joao made the difference. Precise and clear in his explanations.
We are Italian and we perfectly understood his Spanish, because he put a lot of effort into it. The language was not a problem, also because he speaks a little bit of Italian. His stories were always very pleasant and rich in anecdotes and nice curiosities.
He answered every one of our questions... always. It was truly a very pleasant morning with him. Highly recommended!!!!

Very interesting visit
Very interesting visit!
