**A beautiful, authentic experience and one of the highlights of Bangkok** This guided walking tour through the historic Kudeejeen Community was such a wonderful experience. I absolutely loved being able to explore local areas that I would never normally have seen on my own. From crossing the Chao Phraya River by boat to Santa Cruz Pier to visiting Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawihan, Kalayanamit Temple, Kian An Keng Shrine, and Santa Cruz Church, every part of the tour was thoughtfully timed and very enjoyable. The temples and church were all gorgeous, and the multicultural history and heritage of the community made the experience even more special. Our guide, Pet, was excellent. She was knowledgeable, energetic, professional, very attentive, and spoke great English. She really brought the history and spirit of the area to life. My absolute favorite part was the hands-on Thai-Portuguese cooking workshop. It felt truly authentic to be welcomed into a local family home and shown how to cook by people who genuinely opened their space and hearts to us. The food was absolutely amazing, and the group size was just right, which made the experience feel personal and special. The traditional community dinner prepared by local residents was also delicious. Everyone at the home was so friendly, helpful, and warm, and they made the evening incredibly memorable. There was plenty of food, and the whole area felt like a hidden gem. If you are visiting Bangkok, this is a must-do experience. Forget the big fancy malls for a day. This is a chance to see a more meaningful, authentic side of Thailand and experience the true warmth of the local community. A few helpful tips: wear shoes that are easy to take on and off, bring a fan, hat, tissues, and a light shawl for temple visits. It is a fairly easy walk overall, although it can be very hot, and there are some steps at one of the temples. I would also recommend bringing a portable charger and some small cash for temple donations, local shops, and tips for the hosts. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a cultural experience that feels real, welcoming, and unforgettable.
