We’ve taken tours with Mario and Rachel several times, once they graciously took their own personal time to show us around their home town Padua. On our last trip, my husband was ill the night before our all day wine tour, after several after hour phone calling etc, Rachel and Mario were able to assist us, they went above and beyond the call of duty; ultimately we were able to go on the tour which we had been looking forward to for 9 months!

Mario was an outstanding tour guide. He was professional and customized the tour to our exact interests. We did a day in Valpolicella, an excellent walking tour of Padua with Rachel and a day in Prosecco. We learned so much about the making of Amarone wines. After that lovely day, we did a walking tour in Padua with Rachel. What a special gem this tour was. We saw the Scrovegni Chapel frescoes of Giotto that evening. Many we met later in Venice shared their love of those frescoes. I recommend this tour. Finally we spent a day in Prosecco Hills on a private tour. My husband and I are wine enthusiasts and didn’t know what to expect given the majority of the Prosecco we see in the US is mass produced. We went to incredibly small producers in Valdobbiadene and even got to taste some from a tank being racked off. It was outstanding. I strongly recommend these tours, If you are a wine enthusiast Mario is a somm and can share deep knowledge, if you are a casual wine lover you will still really enjoy the beautiful terroir, the wines of course, and the new knowledge you come home with.

What a fabulous day!! Our tours were amazing! Mario did an amazing job! His knowledge of wine and the area was vast! He made the day fun. We visited some great small wineries that were just the best. We had lunch that was so delicious! I can’t rave enough about Mario and his tour. I definitely would go with him again and recommend him to everyone! Thanks so much!!!

The whole day was perfectly planned, two great local vineyards with a real passion for their wines. Everything was sorted including a great lunch and some exceptional wines. Mario provided excellent insight and was a great host - would definitely recommend, thanks for a great day out!

What a beautiful and personal way to see Amarone and the local area! Mario our guide was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable and an expert in this region and especially wine! We loved his experience. Definitely for wine lovers!!!

I undertook the Amarone tour as a solo traveller and had an excellent day. Mario was friendly and very informative and the wines were excellent. Both wine stops weee small producers and as a result you got to engage with one of the family who worked the vines. Really excellent and the wines were great. I also liked the administrators - we made a few tweaks to the programme so I arrived by train and skipped lunch and all worked well. I would thoroughly recommend.

We had an unforgettable wine tour in the Valpolicella region with Mario from Venice Day Trips. Mario was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the region’s wines, which made the experience both educational and enjoyable. He picked us up from our hotel, making the day completely stress-free. We visited two charming, family-run vineyards, where we tasted some exquisite wines and learned about the winemaking process directly from the producers. The highlight was a delightful lunch at a local restaurant, where we savoured authentic Italian cuisine. This tour was a perfect blend of culture, food, and wine—highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed the Amarone Wine Tour that we experienced today. Mario, our sommelier and guide was outstanding. He showed that he really enjoys working with Wine and helping his guests learn more about Wine. Both wineries that we visited did a great job of showing us their wineries and showcasing their excellent Valpolicella wines. Because Mario has selected smaller, family owned wineries with excellent wines, the owner-operators really take the time to treat their guests well. The lunch that Mario hosted for us at Trattoria alla Porchetta was excellent Italian cuisine and was a great intermission between the two wineries. After this great experience, Mario dropped us back at our starting point, the tronchetta vaporetta stop using a back road to take us right up to the dock area. We would whole heartedly recommend this wine tour of great red wine operated by Mario Pioccinin of Venice Day Trips.

The Amarone Wine Tour was absolutely incredible! Both wineries that we visited and toured were small family-run wineries. The people were so welcoming and the wine was delicious. Mario is an excellent guide. He is so knowledgable and so nice! He walked us through each and every wine and explained the color, the smell, and the taste. He also explained which foods we should pair with each wine. In fact, at the first winery, we were served specific meats and cheese to pair with each wine! At the second winery, we also had a chance to taste the homemade olive oil which was delicious. Luckily, at both wineries you can order wine, grappa, olive oil, and vinegar, and then ship it back to the states! Lunch at the local trattoria was also delicious! It was great to sit down with Mario and learn more about the area, the local cuisine, the wine, and get to know him more. Lastly, Rachel was great in helping set up this tour. She worked with my family and I to create the perfect experience. She is also very knowledgeable and very helpful if your family has any special accommodations. This was the highlight of my family's trip to Northern Italy, and we will definitely be recommending Mario and Rachel to all of our friends who visit!
