Exceptional Private Prosecco Tour from Start to Finish
Our private Prosecco wine tour with Venice Day Trips was easily one of the highlights of our entire trip to Italy. From the very first contact with Rachel, the level of communication and attention to detail was outstanding. She provided a clear, detailed itinerary, answered every question along the way, and continued to be helpful right through the end of our time in Venice, even sharing recommendations for the best Aperol Spritz and gelato in the city.
As for the tour itself, Mario was an absolute gem and a true professional. From the moment we met him at the water taxi terminal, he was friendly, personable, and made our group of six feel completely at ease. Throughout the day, he shared a wealth of knowledge about the Prosecco-making process, explained the differences between the DOC and DOCG regions, and gave us a much better appreciation for what makes the area and its wines so special.
The tour was customized for our group, and the two wineries Mario selected were fantastic. The tastings were excellent, and the pairings of local cheeses and meats made the experience even better. Everyone in our group had a great time, and the day felt relaxed, personal, and never rushed.
One of the things that really showed Mario’s professionalism was how he handled an unexpected bike race that temporarily blocked our route on the winding roads. Without missing a beat, he changed plans, took us to a local bar, ordered a bottle of Prosecco, and turned the delay into an impromptu lesson on DOCG Prosecco. Instead of feeling like an inconvenience, it became another memorable part of the day.
From Rachel’s communication and planning to Mario’s knowledge, personality, and ability to make the day special, Venice Day Trips exceeded our expectations. If you are visiting Venice and have the opportunity to do a private Prosecco tour with them, we would highly recommend it. It was truly one of the best experiences of our trip.

Best wine tasting!
We spent the day with Mario doing an absolutely amazing tour of a DOCG Prosecco winery, followed by a tasting. Mario is a true sommelier and it was a pleasure doing a guided tasting with him. One of the best parts of the day was the lunch after where we ate the most delicious pasta I have ever had in my life. Best wine tour ever!

Educatiional and Fun
Mario was awesome. He took time to explaine the trip before we started. He also gave great advise on how to experience (taste) prosecco. He also shared information on points of interest on the way.

Unforgettable Solo Prosecco Tour
I booked an all day solo Prosecco tour with Mario. My intention was to expand upon my wine education (WSET 1 and 2) and experience first hand different wineries in the prestigious Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene wine region. Mario was fantastic and a wealth of information as I continued to ask many questions throughout the day. It was truly an incredible experience for someone passionate about wine and a chance of a lifetime to walk the vineyards with the wine maker, learn more about Prosecco production methods and sit for an intimate wine tasting. Thank you Mario for the wonderful translation. This was a day I will never forget!

Exceeded (high) expectations
We did two tours with Mario - Prosecco hills and also valpolicella/amarone. We’ve been. home now for a week and haven’t stopped talking about how incredible both were. Each day we went to family-owned wineries (where they were clearly thrilled to see Mario), tasted delicious wines, and had an amazing lunch. We could not have asked for more. Also, we spent several days in Padua and Mario and his wife were extraordinarily generous with tips and ticks that helped us get the most out of our time there. If you’re lucky enough to be in this part of Italy and you don’t spend time with Mario/his wife/Venice Day Trips, you’re doing yourself a disservice. It’s just that simple.

Venice: Experts reveal more then canals and crowds
Venice is gorgeous, but it is a lot! Rachel (a now-native from Ohio) and her husband Mario enhanced our experience and made our (family of five with young adult/teens) three-day, post-cruise visit to this beautiful but crowded city SOO much easier. From our transfer from Trieste (during the G7 Summit - the city was all screwed up), then meeting up for great pictures spots, a gondola ride, then off to bars and restaurants. Our first day in Venice was filled with great sites and amazing food.
Day two was Prosecco country - don’t skip this even if you think you’re not into Prosecco. We’re not wine connoisseurs, but just seeing the countryside is worth it. Of course, the wine was delicious, but we’re not necessarily wine people so it’s awesome having an expert explain to you what it is your tasting and why it tastes as good as it does. And we got back to the city in time to stroll around at night get a little bit more to eat and do some shopping.
Day three was taking a cooking class in Padova. Why go to Italy and not learn how to cook some of the cuisine? We went to the local market and then we were invited into a lovely home and taught how to make an amazing three course meal.
Delicious!! We had enough time to see Padova and get back to Venice, again for maybe a light bite, strolling, and some more shopping.
And then, of course, there’s all the extra advice. Places to eat near your hotel in Venice, advice on using public transportation, and the ease of being able to move around Venice with two folks who fluently speak Italian and may not be charged the “tourist tax” for things like water taxis, and the like.
In and out of the city, they were responsive, helpful, insightful, and really made our three night trip to and around Venice easy and amazing. Can’t recommend them enough!

Prosecco Wine Tour (Prior to COVID)
Mario is the most knowledgeable and genuinely caring person me and my fiance have ever had the pleasure of learning from.
We had an amazing experience and discovered a world of wine that we had no idea existed.
We plan on returning as soon as possible!

Superb Day in Valdobbiadene
What a wonderful day we had with Mario, our Italian Sommelier, Prosecco tasting in Valdobbiadene. Mario was so fascinating and knowledgeable, not only regarding the Prosecco but also Italian food and culture. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Phillippo in Croset Vineyard and tasting his delicious Prosecco, including still Prosecco which we had never tasted before. We decided to purchase and have some shipped (Mario was extremely helpful with arranging this) along with meeting Christina in Campion Vineyard with their equally wonderful Prosecco which we also purchased! We had a superb lunch in a family owned Osteria in the hills with fresh homemade food all from their own farm. The scenery was stunning and we feel very knowledgeable ourselves now - that much so that we are becoming Prosecco snobs and searching our area for only the best. Thank you so much Venice Day Trips and Mario for making our time in the area so special. From Sam, Paula, Mandy and Claire.

Must do!
AMAZING day in the Prosecco region with Mario. Super educational experience and fun all at the same time. We worked together to make a wonderful itinerary. The level of service and hospitality was unmatched. As someone who works in the wine industry I can say I was impressed from start to finish. Do yourself a favor and leave the heat and crowds behind in Venice and escape to the beautiful wine regions in Northeast Italy!
