We enjoyed a wonderful morning to afternoon walk through the Jordaan, Central Amsterdam including the red light district. Mark was super knowledgeable, friendly, funny and had great enthusiasm. He loves his job and it shows. He’d provided great recommendations for dining enjoying other highlights. Marks’s style is warm and comfortable for all kinds of travelers. Would totally recommend. Four hours flew by!

On my return to Amsterdam, I booked a three-hour walking tour of the city so my husband could experience it (it was his first time), and Mark was a terrific guide as was true when I used him two years ago for my first (solo) visit. He is entertaining, informative without being overly wonky, and we even covered some different stuff from my prior tour. Brett really enjoyed it, and since that was the main goal, I am very happy about that. I strongly recommend him!

That Damn Guide, Mark, is an independent tour guide in Amsterdam and provided our family with an excellent, private walking tour experience. He's very knowledgeable, very funny, and offers a unique perspective on Amsterdam with interesting insights into the rich culture and history of this city. We had a wonderful tour with Mark. We had our eight year old in tow and Mark was able to keep the grownups and our son interested and entertained. He was very knowledgeable and was able to quickly pivot when my son expressed interest in something more obscure and not necessarily part of the tour . He spent time at the end as well, giving us some great recommendations for the remainder of our stay. He we a pleasure to spend the day with and we are very happy to have met him. Mark is definitely the best guide in Amsterdam! Four of us took 2 private tours with him...the walking tour of Amsterdam and the Countryside/Windmill Tour. Mark tries very hard to tailor the tour to what you are looking for as much as possible. We had the most wonderful time with Mark! His knowledge is excellent about the area and the history. We love cheese so he took us to a working farm where they produce milk for cheese. We saw new baby lambs, chickens and dairy cows. For our lunch we had a cheese tasting which we had booked with him ahead of time. He also took us to numerous tulip fields knowing how much we loved them. We never tired of the beautiful tulips and views. We laughed and laughed, especially on the farm with the sheep.He knew we loved goodies so we had apple pie, cookies, stroopwafels and more. Mark truly made our visit to Amsterdam special and we will never forget him or his kindness. We were sorry to leave. We definitely recommend Mark. There are others who have tried to copy what he does, but Mark takes you to places most others don't know about. You definitely need to book with Mark as he is the best! There is a reason Rick Steves recommends him!

We just returned from a weeklong trip to Amsterdam. The trip was amazing, due in part to Mark and his excellent tours. We saw him three days in a row for a variety of experiences — a walking tour of the city, a tour of the countryside (not tulips since they were not blooming yet) and a private tour of the Van Gogh museum. Every tour was spectacular. Mark is an extremely knowledgeable guide and very patient with a barrage of questions. I personally get bored easily in museums but he made the Van Gogh experience one to remember with his deep understanding of both the artist and his art. If you are heading to Amsterdam, do NOT hesitate to schedule a tour with Mark. You won’t be disappointed!
