This was a great tour and my family had a wonderful time. Since it was "rainy" season, it ended up being a private tour. The lunch on the company's ranch was amazing! It was a home cooked meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend!
We were fortunate in that we were the only people on the tour and our guide Frederick tailored everything right to us. We went at our pace and we loved every minute of it. I loved that F carried telescope tripod. We loved the photos!!
We had a great experience with Fran from Rain Forest Explorers. He was able to spot the wildlife with impressive precision (even the little frogs hanging out in the distance). He let us use his spotting scope to look at birds, sloths, and monkeys along the way and graciously offered to take pictures and videos of the wildlife and pictures of my wife and I at all the good spots along the way. He knew how to use the iPhone camera in ways I’m not familiar with, so all the pictures he took of us looked fantastic. At the end of the tours we went to a traditional style restaurant overlooking Rio Burro that is exclusively available to those who book tours with Rain Forest Explorers. The food was phenomenal, the best typical style dish we’ve had to this point on the trip. At the end of the meal we were served the most delicious handmade ice cream. Rain Forest Explorers focuses on delivering a more authentic experience, and we feel that they lived up to their mission statement with our tour today. We felt that the price was fair, especially considering that it was only my wife and I on the tour. We were able to make it back to the hotel about 6 hours after pickup, so there was plenty of time left to enjoy the day. Fran was very knowledgeable about the indigenous culture, ecosystems, current events and more. We were impressed with the quality of his English, as I would say it’s probably more refined than myself as a native speaker. Overall the experience was fantastic, we wish the best to Fran and Rain Forest Explorers.
We had such an amazing time on this tour. Our animal loving kids were in heaven in Mistico park. Our guide Jason helped them find so many animals and gave so much info. Our driver Jaime was waiting at the end with fresh fruit. Then we went to La Fortuna waterfall which was quite a hike but so worth it. Again Jason and Jaime handled all the details. Finally we went to El Rancho, Rainforest Explorers own restaurant, for lunch. We had a delicious meal. A Highlight day.
Mau, our tour guide and Miner our driver were outstanding. On time, very knowledgeable about everything we were seeing and doing. It rained the whole time yet didn’t both us (or them) a bit. We saw many animals and even stopped roadside to catch a sloth in action. The highlight of the trip was actually the lunch portion at the family ranch. Everything was warm, welcome and delicious. We had a group of 10 from age 5 to 75. All was perfect.
What a fantastic tour! Issac was an excellent knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. The Mystico Hanging Bridges were an awesome introduction to the rain forest eco system. Issac had great eye for the wildlife and vegetation with awesome magnifying lens for close ups. The La Fortuna Falls were greatness given all the rain (but no swimming). A locally prepared lunch by the Rainforest Explorers team was the perfect ending!
This was such a great experience. Shout out to our tour guide Tony for being so amazing! He found every animal we wanted to see on this tour, including howler monkeys, spider monkeys, toucans, sloths, and poison dart frogs!! Doing the mistico hanging bridges with a guide is a must because a lot of the animals are so good at camoflouging themselves. The fortuna waterfall was beautiful, and the lunch was delicious and at such a peaceful location. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting La Fortuna!
This tour was phenomenal and the ideal way to experience such beautiful landmarks! Our guide spotted so many animals that we never would have known were there and happily helped us take photos through his scope. We saw three toucans and snake within the first 15 minutes and continued to see frogs, birds, bats, and more all throughout the tour. The bridges were so fun to cross and provided incredible views of the rainforest you truly can’t get anywhere else. The waterfall was beautiful and a great way to cool off after the hike - just be prepared for lots of stairs to get there and back. The included lunch to end the day was freshly cooked and delicious, provided by a lovely local restaurant. Transportation was smooth thanks to our great driver. Overall an unforgettable experience that we highly recommend for any La Fortuna trip!
If I could leave a hundred stars for this amazing, local, family-owned operation I totally would. Booking and confirmation was so easy with Ileana. Mario, Carlos, and Jaime took great care of our family during our tour through Mistico Hanging Bridges and La Fortuna waterfall. We did not book a private tour, but because our group was large enough they gave us one anyway. My mom has some mobility concerns and they were so very kind and patient with our group to ensure everyone had a fantastic experience. Mario was incredibly knowledgeable of the various wildlife in the tour. We saw two breeds of monkeys, three different breeds of frogs (including the transparent glass frog), the eyelash viper, tiny honey bees, various ant species, toucans, and a baby owl and her mama. Carlos walked behind with my mom to make sure she was comfortable and didn’t miss anything. Jaime ended our tour with a delicious fruit snack. We then had an amazing traditional Casados lunch at their family farm, where we saw amazing birds and met their family. The waterfall tour was equally as exciting and fun for my family. We loved everything so much we booked an unplanned Sloth tour with them tomorrow! The care and effort they take to ensure their customers and guests feel welcomed, educated, and happy went above and beyond. Cannot recommend this amazing family and service enough!
Really fun tour! Only 4-5 of us the entire time and our guide, Francisco, helped everyone feel at home. He made sure everyone got photos of the wildlife and pics on the bridges. The lunch was amazing! They were able to provide a vegan option.
