There was no Golden Gate tour even though we paid for it. The timing of the tour you pay for is irrelevant: You’re dropped off at the island and you can catch a ferry back, or not, every thirty minutes thereafter. So, if you pay for the expensive four hour tour, your experience is no different than someone who pays for the two hour tour because the folks who pay for the two hour tour have the same ability to wander around the island for an additional two hours as you do.

I have long been fascinated by Alcatraz and the self guided tour was everything I could have wanted. The park rangers, staff and book store staff were terrific. Thank you, Maryanne

Over booked could barely look at any of the cells and stuff, not that much to actually see. Don’t recommend!

Alcatraz was a phenomenal experience. We found it to be so informative. The only the I would have recommended is that fewer people be allowed to start the tour at the same time. Some of the guests were pushy and hogged the viewing sites of the cells, etc. It would have been much nicer not to have so many patrons pushing and shoving. The Bay Cruise was also wonderful. My only recommendation is that the PA was not loud enough to hear. My travel team really wanted to hear the facts but could not at all.

Alcatraz Prison is a world wide success in capturing the attention of the public. Trips are sold out year long to get a glimpse of a prison closed in the early 60’s. This glimpse of American history is a “must see” for all history buffs.

I had reservations but had a family emergency. I couldn’t call due to my current situation. A day later I tried to call to get my reservation for another day and he wouldn’t help. Says to bad. So forget this company. Be aware all they care about is money not the experience.

Great experience. Learned a lot. Enjoyed the ride through the bay, the tour, and gardens. Well worth seeing.

A bit confusing but that might be me this is run by 2 different tour operators one on pier 33 the other on 39 only a short walk between the 2 to be fair. Overall very good Alcatraz very much self guided and the Bay cruise commentary is very informative and you see a couple of sides of the golden gate bridge close up that are hard to see from land.

We tried to change the date on the tour three days before it occurred due to a family emergency. The vendor would not allow it. We told them we could try again the following week but they said no and kept the payment. Terrible customer service

The tour guides were very friendly and helpful. We were given a lift up in the electric cart to the cell block
