Jermaine was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide and kept us informed on the sights on the way there. Long drive from Mo’bay but worth it. We had the coach to ourselves - which we were happy with. Dunns River Falls was less busy to check in when we arrived (early afternoon) but there were lots of people down at the beach and on the falls themselves. The guide was good and showed us where to stop and enjoy the rushing water. We are all relatively fit: I wouldn’t recommend this to those with mobility issues or joint problems. Definitely recommend bringing water shoes (though you can rent them on site) and a waterproof phone/money pouch. We were unsure how much to tip the guide: he seemed a bit disappointed with USD10 - we would probably have given him $20 had we known this was more reasonable for a family of four. The luminous lagoon was next. There was a fire eating act which had started by the time we arrived - a bit manic and uncalled for, and more tips expected- though not mandatory. The boat captain for the luminous lagoon reassured us there were no creepy crawlies around, and we all got off the boat - the water is about three feet deep with soft smelly mud at the bottom - be prepared! Many people did get slight stings from (what we later found out were tiny jellyfish) - but it was disappointing that the boat captain made light of this and even flatly denied that was what they were (I guess his whole business model depends on people making the trip and most jumping in). He did hand out vinegar to rub on the stings - which somewhat contradicts his explanation! We found this disingenuous and disappointing- to be honest if he had been open and honest there may be tiny stings, many people would still have jumped in! Still, it was an amazing experience. All in all, a great day out!
