Our guide was Frank and he was very good, sharing stories and history. We had lots of small eats and lovely glasses of wine all inside the Mercado Alicante. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who likes food and wine.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An fantastic culinary experience in Alicante! Our food and tapas tour with Alicante Tasting Club was easily one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide, Fran, ( Francesco) was absolutely excellent. He was engaging, incredibly knowledgeable about the local gastronomy, and took us to fantastic spots.Every single stop offered a wonderful selection of authentic tapas sometimes paired with great drinks, and Fran made sure everyone felt welcome and looked after. The Vegetarians in our group were offered alternatives so they did not miss out, which was a nice touch. If you want to experience the true flavor and food culture of Alicante, booking a tour with Fran and the Alicante Tasting Club is an absolute must. Gracias, Fran! 🍷🇪🇸
Suitable for everyone whatever age . Very informative and amusing at times . Paco was an amazing guide he brought the whole group together , as a result we chatted and exchanged stories with many interesting people . Paco took us to a beautiful ceramic shop , I have tried for two days to try and find it as I wanted a few pieces . It is beautiful quality if you go do buy when you are there . I will Continue trying to trace my steps I can find all the wonderful eating places but sadly not my ceramic shop 😕 Definitely an experience not to be missed and if your lucky enough to get Paco you will be truly entertained
German was a wonderful host who ensured we had a great tour of the many different parts and tastes of the market. His personal experiences and local knowledge enhanced the tour further and it was fascinating hearing his knowledge of the history of both the market and the city. He ensured we had the best experience possible of the market, even arranging an extra visit to another shop of local produce outside. We enjoyed many local delicacies and samples of wine too- highly recommended!
To be honest a good food tour is not only about what you eat. The most important ingredient is a guide. And Fran was a real star. He navigated us during 2 hours through market a let us taste Alicante delights. The group was small so everyone could ask questions and quickly we became friends :). I recommend everyone this tour!
We had a fabulous time with Fran! He was professional and knowledgeable not only about the food and history of the market but the history of Alicante. He had a great sense of humour and was very accommodating to any special needs required whether it be dietary choices or physical restrictions. We would definitely recommend this experience. You won’t regret it!

This tour concentrates on the Mercado Central. For those of you arriving on a cruise ship, know that the pier at Alicante’s port is very long so use of the shuttle is a great idea. Then, despite the potential warnings you may get from staff that walking to the Mercado Central is ‘too far or too difficult,’ know that it is an easy walk via scenic, pretty streets and is well worrth is! It took us under 20min and two of us are 62 & 66 years old! Our tour guide, Francisco, of Alicante Tasting Club, was friendly, knew many of the shopkeepers in the marketplace, and did a great job explaining what we saw and what we were going to eat and drink. We had lots of laughs and nice nibbles. Food and drink ranged from beer to white and red wines, cheese, pickled veggies (apparently very popular locally), several varieties of meats, fruits, and fish. This is really a fun time if you want to sample local fare and the Mercado scene!
This was our first visit to Alicante and this tour was a great experience. We not only got to taste some delicious food and drink, but we also learned a bit of history of the market and the city. A thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours and our guide Fran was superb. Definitely recommend this tour.
This was a brilliant food tour. It’s always our go to thing to do when visiting a new city, and this did not disappoint. It’s the first time that I’ve spent an entire tour in one place; it was all held in the Central Market. It totally worked though. Carlos was so passionate and so proud of the market, and that really added to the experience. We loved the tasters (I won’t ruin it by saying what they all were) and it was such good value for money. However, Carlos really made this tour what it was - absolutely wonderful host.
