It was an incredible experience. We were able to experience some southern right whales that swam directly toward us. The entire boat had a great view since they were spread out all around us. You didn't even know where to look. In addition, there were endless dolphins and seals to see. And all that, even though it had rained earlier in the early morning and it was still quite cloudy. The crew was very entertaining and competent and, above all, very concerned about the well-being of the animals and the cleanliness of the oceans.

10/10 Absolutely recommend! Super professional set-up and very respectful of the whales and the entire ecosystem. We felt in very safe hands on the boat and our guides had such extensive knowledge, good humor and great love for the animals which was great to see! We saw plenty of whales, dolphins and seals! What a great day!! 💙🐋 🐬 🦭💫

It’s been an amazing experience! We were lucky to see some pairs of mothers and calves. Everyone was very nice, from driver to skipper and tourguide. Loved how respectfully the whales were treated and how much the guides could tell about them and always had great answers for questions (greetings to Jason(?), don’t forget to read the swarm by Frank Schätzing :) ) I’ve had a wonderful time, thank you all.

Super experience. Our guide made the right decision based on the first sighting. He waited, and a group of about 10 southern right whales came up to the boat and stayed there for a long time and showed themselves.

The whale watching itself was unforgettable — seeing these incredible animals in their natural environment was truly magical. It was one of those experiences that you know you will remember for a very long time. I was travelling solo, and I felt very well taken care of from start to finish. Everything was well organized, and the whole day felt smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you are looking for a beautiful experience in nature with a great team. 🐋🤍

I booked the Whale Watching tour from Gansbaai via GetYourGuide. Since I was attending a conference with limited free time, I had to choose between a safari and whale watching. I picked the whales because it was peak season. The day before the tour, I received a message stating that a private passenger car would pick me up instead of the standard minibus. As a solo female traveler, this made me very anxious, as there was no prior information anywhere stating that transfers could be done in a personal vehicle. When my driver, Bruce Iliffee, arrived in the morning, he turned out to be a very pleasant gentleman. Still, for safety reasons, I took a photo of the car and sent my live location to my family throughout the drive. Although Bruce was lovely, polite, and shared great history and facts about Cape Town along the way, I couldn't fully relax until we reached the departure site. Once we arrived and joined the rest of the group (about 20 people), I finally felt safe and at ease. The boat crew was super friendly and tried their best to get close to the whales. Unfortunately, due to rainy weather, we barely saw any. The team handed out water, chips, and candies on board, recommending the sweets for seasickness. However, the strong smell of kerosene fuel from the boat made me feel nauseous, and even the candies tasted like kerosene. After two hours, we headed back to shore, and I was quite disappointed not to see the whales up close. I am rating this tour 4 stars primarily because of Bruce Iliffee. He is an excellent driver who got us back safely, as well as a knowledgeable and wonderful guide. However, I believe the company should inform customers that taking the tour on a rainy day comes with a high risk of low visibility, so people can decide if it's worth the money rather than facing disappointment.

We had such a wonderful whale-watching experience on Sunday with Ivanhoe. The crew were incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the whales and the marine environment. They shared interesting information throughout the trip, which really added to the experience. Most importantly, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Being out on the ocean and seeing these magnificent creatures in their natural environment was truly special and something we will remember for a long time. Thank you to Ivanhoe and the crew for a fantastic experience. 🐋❤️ We would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves wildlife and wants to experience these beautiful animals up close in their natural environment. A fantastic day and one we won't forget!

Superb guides, we saw several whales including females with their babies. However, the time of the excursion on the boat would have been ideal with an additional hour compared to the travel time from Cape Town.
