Tour guide was super knowledgeable and made the experience super fun! I’ve never tried rum, or any alcohol using these methods and it really shows the knowledge and skill behind the organizer!
Thank you so much! 🤎 Love that the tasting gave you a completely new way to experience rum. There’s so much to discover once you slow down and explore aroma, flavour and chocolate together — and we’re very happy you had fun doing it! 🍫🥃
The host is a chocolate maker and knew a lot about the rum and this was a wonderful experience. She led us through step by step and even those in our group who weren't rum fans enjoyed the pairings. My favorite was the 15 year old, but we all had different preferences. Sunset views, great chocolate, good rum. A fantastic end to our vacation.
What a wonderful way to spend your last evening in Puerto Viejo. I'm so glad you found us before heading home. I smiled when I read that everyone had a different favourite rum. That happens almost every tasting, and it's one of the things I enjoy most. There really isn't a "right" answer—it's fascinating to see how the same chocolate brings out something different for each person. It was a pleasure sharing the evening with you, and I'm happy to hear that even the non-rum drinkers found something to enjoy. Add in a good sunset, and it's hard to ask for much more. Safe travels home, and I hope the memories of the chocolate, the rum, and that final Puerto Viejo sunset stay with you for a long time.
Fantastic description of what we were eating and drinking, and the chocolate and rum paired together perfectly!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're so happy you enjoyed the pairings. One of our favourite parts of the experience is discovering how chocolate and rum can bring out unexpected flavours in each other, and sharing the stories behind every sip and bite. We hope to welcome you back to Cacao Huasi for another discovery soon!
Amazing experience here! All the rum and chocolate was phenomenal! Staff was so knowledgeable and patiently explained the tasting process. I happened to come on an evening with live music and it was perfect especially with the view of the ocean in front. Can't wait to come back!
Thank you so much Rachel for your kind words! 💛 We’re really happy you enjoyed the rum and chocolate pairing experience with us at Cacao Huasi. I loved sharing the stories, flavors, and tasting process with you, appreciate your enthusiasm! I also appreciate your sharing and connecting with this beautiful place of Puerto Viejo. I'm really glad you enjoyed the music too, wonderful when a plan comes together :) Perfect evening of live music, ocean breeze, sunset views, and good chocolate all together ✨🎶🌊 We can’t wait to welcome you back to Puerto Viejo for more chocolate, music, and Caribbean magic. Safe travels until then! Ancel
There were four types of rum to taste paired with four types of chocolate, all homemade from the cocoa beans of the farm or surrounding farms. Earlier, there was a statement on the emergence of cocoa culture on the Caribbean coast. Coupled with sea view directly to sunset- I would just as recommend
Thank you Ulrike so much for your kind words. We’re really happy you enjoyed the rum and chocolate pairing, and that the story of cacao culture on the Caribbean coast added to the experience. Sharing locally sourced cacao and handmade chocolate is something we care deeply about, and the sunset view makes it even more special. It was a pleasure to host you, and we hope to welcome you back to Cacao Huasi again soon. Thank you for the recommendation!
The experience is set in a historic area with an AMAZING view of the water. The chocolatier’s knowledgeable and answered a wide variety of questions. The chocolate and the rum were delicious. We found a combo that ended up tasting like a peanut MnM! 100% worth it.
Thank you so much Jenna for sharing this! I’m really glad you enjoyed the setting and that the view added to the experience — it’s a special spot indeed. I loved hearing all the questions you brought, and that you had fun exploring the chocolate and rum pairings… discovering a peanut M&M–like combo is amazing! Thanks so much for joining us and for the recommendation — you’re very welcome back anytime. 🍫🥃🌿
Very chill vibe with knowledgeable teachers, delicious chocolate and rum . Lovely location across from beach .
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🌺 We’re so glad you enjoyed the relaxed vibe and our spot by the beach here in Puerto Viejo. It’s always a joy to share chocolate and rum with curious travelers and new friends. We hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Costa Rica!
