Madawa was a kowledgable and friendly guide. Talked about cricket and some politics before start. Tour is approximately 1 and a half hours so bring a hat and water. There is a small climb at Clocktower. Overall, a great way to see Galle Fort.

Madawa is very knowledgeable and his English is excellent. He was super patient with my mum's very many questions about the history, culture, people etc etc. We really enjoyed our walking tour of Galle with him and would highly recommend it. Learned a lot!

He answered all our questions with ease, and shared stories about his own experiences in Sri Lanka. This tour was entertaining and very interesting. Would highly recommend.

Great tour, so interesting and informative whilst still engaging my teenage sons. Definitely worth doing to gain a better understanding of the historical significance. Lovely personality and excellent English, more than history, also covered off on plants and trees and local legend and modern relevance.

Madawa is truly a delightful gem, warm, considerate, intelligent, and deeply knowledgeable. From the very start, he intuitively understood both our interests and our pace, shaping the experience around us. What stood out most was not only his knowledge as a guide, but his remarkable emotional intelligence and ability to connect. In the short time we spent together, he shared thoughtful, unguarded insights into Sri Lankan culture that felt both personal and expansive. The fort simply provided a container for the layers of history, migration, colonization that explained the complex intersection of this culture. He expertly wove indelible images of the past as we meandered through his tour, intersecting it with current Singhalese social culture and politics. He answered the why did it seem a more egalitarian culture, what effect did the Portuguese, Dutch, British overlords enshrine in the living miasma of the indigenous people, did he have children, what was his hope for Sri Lanka. He welcomed every question with openness, from history and culture to his own life and hopes for Sri Lanka, and answered them with honesty and depth. It felt less like a tour and more like a genuine cultural exchange. if you take his extraordinary tour with him All I am sure he will answer your questions as fully. I am so grateful to have met Madawa and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking even a brief but meaningful immersion into Sri Lankan culture.

We had a great time with Madawa exploring the Dutch Fort. He has fantastic historical information about the fort and the surrounding. Would highly recommend him as a guide.

I enjoyed my walking tour of the old Galle town. Madawa is a local so the tour felt more personal and interesting. Unlike most walking tours this was a little over an hour which is perfect in the heat/sunshine.
