オビドスは紀元前308年頃にケルト人によって建設されたと考えられている。 フェニキア人による支配の試みはケルト人の抵抗によって失敗したものの、最終的にケルト人はこの「一流の土地」を征服したローマ人に降伏した。
しかし、要塞の近く、特に東側でかなりの抵抗があり、この領土を奪うことは容易ではなかった。 この方向からの侵入が不可能だと見たローマ軍は包囲を解いて水運で町を攻略した。 そのために港から北へ出航した（現在のBarra de S. Martinho) の船に乗り、フォス・ド・アレリョ (Foz do Arelho) の河口を通って町の城壁まで航海した。

Beautiful and recommended trip
From Peniche, a nice excursion, although not very comfortable on a speedboat. Then a visit to the caves in another smaller one. And a walking tour, voluntary and optional around the island, with a climb of almost 300 steps, although not very difficult if you are in good physical condition.

Guide was great!!
Had a great time! Our guide Navazali was terrific!! He picked us up, ensured our comfort, answered questions ! He even took picture for us and we didn’t have to ask!! He was where he said he’d be, when he said he’d be there! It was like we were traveling with a Freind, so grateful for his many kindnesses and shared laughter!

You can't miss it
If you are in the area it is a must-visit. The beach is one of the prettiest I have been to. The fort and walk through the caves were very nice. The

Comfortable way to visit Berlengas from Lisbon
It is a comfortable way to visit Berlengas from Lisbon.
Navaz picked us up in Lisbon and took us to Peniche. He had some cold water ready when we arrived at the car. During the trip, he gave us a lot of information. He also had a stop planned 5 minutes from the pier so we could use the restroom and have a coffee.
Once in Peniche, he took care of the tickets and made sure we caught the right boat.
At all times, he was very kind, pleasant, and punctual. He took photos of us and even treated us to coffee and gave us a small gift.
The speedboat trip was fun, and the arrival at Berlengas and the transfer to the small boat to visit the caves were well organized.
On the other hand, the visit to the caves did not go entirely well because the guide did not speak Spanish (despite it being a tour booked in Spanish). This meant we did not fully understand the method for returning and were a bit worried until we sorted it out.

Respecto a la visita a las cuevas, lamentamos sinceramente que el guía no hablara español y que esto les haya causado cierta preocupación a la hora de entender las indicaciones para el regreso. Entendemos perfectamente que, al reservar una excursión en español, esperan poder disfrutar de toda la experiencia en ese idioma. Agradecemos mucho que nos hayan señalado este aspecto, ya que su opinión nos ayuda a mejorar y a trabajar con nuestros colaboradores para ofrecer un servicio cada vez mejor.
