Ladies Mile: Cast Iron Architecture Tour. This was a very informative tour regarding the transition from dry goods stores to department stores and the making of one's own clothing to buying ready made clothes. Emma is an excellent tour guide and explained the advantages of cast iron construction for building large stores and adding architectural adornment to the exterior of the buildings. While many of these department stores are now being converted to big box stores, they have not been torn down and remain standing.

I did the "Ladies’ Mile: Cast Iron Architecture & Gilded Age Shopping" tour with Emma, and it was spectacular! After listening to the Ladies' Mile episodes of "The Bowery Boys" and "The Gilded Gentleman," I was so excited to actually visit the stores they discussed in person. I have always loved the architecture in the neighborhood we toured, and it was such a treat to learn more about it from an expert. I live in the city and am a historian specializing in fashion from this time period, but I think this tour would be just as enjoyable to a visitor who is interested in learning more about the Gilded Age. I highly recommend, especially to fashion lovers!

The presenter Emma Guest-Consales was excellent. She was warm, enthusiastic and engaging and she showed a breadth of knowledge of the cast-iron architecture and history of Manhattan's Ladies Mile. This was a virtual tour with lots of wonderful slides of beautiful buildings which I look forward to viewing in person on my next trip to the city. She provided us with a detailed checklist of these buidlings and also a resource of books for further research. I look forward to attending more Bowery Boy Tours - virtual and in-peron.

Just enjoyed a fascinating virtual tour led by Emma featuring the sights and history of Ladies Mile. It was a great, in-depth look at the retail past of NYC with lots of lively anecdotes and unexpected details all along the way. Emma did a great job. Among other things, I now walk into the big-box stores (Container Store, Home Depot, etc.) in this area with a new appreciation of the buildings' history.

I often listen to episodes of The Bowery Boys multiple times, but none as often as "The Sumptuous Story of Ladies' Mile". Our tour guide, Emma, did an incredible job of bringing the podcast to life covering topics from the episode while peppering in her own interesting facts. I recommend this tour to anyone interested in classic architecture, history of department stores and/or magnets!

A wonderful tour highlighting the history and architecture of this fascinating area of the city. Our guide Emma was top shelf and did a first rate job in helping us visualize a Gilded Age shopping experience. Fascinating to lean how the neighborhood has gone full retail circle from Siegel Cooper Department Store to Bed Bath and Beyond! Bowery Boys listeners will be glad to know that the tour, like the podcast, does not disappoint. Great job!

I attended the May 18th Cast Iron Ladies Miles Tour. Our Guide, Emma Guest Consales was wonderful. She knew all the fascinating history of the area, as well as the history of so many of the Iconic Cast Iron Buildings we walk past every day and know little about. Emma answered all questions and came with a binder of wonderful 19th and early 20th Century photos. Giving all of her guests a clearer understanding of this area as it once was. I will definitely attend other Bowery Boys Walk, and particularly, the ones that Emma leads!
