A truly beautiful and unique experience definitely something to do. A magical place filled with sculptures carved into the rock and stunning paintings. The transfer takes you through small villages surrounded by nature. The guide was excellent and spoke very good English. We were lucky enough to meet the artist and see him at work, and we had a lovely hour long chat, such a pleasure. The old slave house at the top of the hill offers a 360-degree view over the forest. Definitely an experience worth having!
Beautiful art, stunning views, and a private tour - what more could I ask for? We had the place to ourselves when we visited. This is a former sugar plantation turned into a museum of sorts primarily featuring the work of two Jamaican artists: Bruce Allen (painter) and Fitzroy Russel, stone sculptor. We loved our time there and were well taken care of by our tour guide, Lisa, who also was happy to take a tonne of photos of us! Yes, the drive was slightly unnerving on the way up but our man, Gary, was fabulous and got us there safely and shared a lot of history too. Def. worth the visit for the views alone (but the art is really great). Wish they would sell prints of Allen’s work, which is really gorgeous.
Full disclosure, the last 3 miles driving to the Park from Lucea was horrible (1/5.) It was narrow, full of potholes and covered with forest discards. We barely made it in our compact SUV. The drive leaving the park towards Negril was wonderful (5/5.) The Sculpture Park and onsite museums were magnificent, unbelievable, spellbinding and unforgettable! Our tour guide was well versed in the art history, land history and all the agricultural history too! I was awestruck. The terrible road getting there, almost forgotten.
The experience is unique from the ride to get there through the village on the mountains, hearing stories from the driver to the very end. Once you get there you’ll meet the artist who made all the sculptures in the park. The guide, Liza, was the best and gave us a full tour of the building where the paintings are, the park and the house of head master of the plantation. She was a delight to talk too. The place has the best view you’ll ever see, hidden in the mountains, with all the plant, flowers and fruits you can imagine. Extremely recommended.
AMAZING!!!!!!! can't rave enough about it. our favourite tour on our whole trip to Negril. Lisa was so kind, funny and informative! you can tell she loves her job by how enthusiastic she is as a guide. Gary, who drove us to and from our resort is a BLAST! he is hilarious and utterly charming, with a wide variety of knowledge about the locale and its history. he took us to off-road attractions to show us sights we wouldn't have otherwise seen. he is incredible. truly once in a lifetime opportunity which you should absolutely take if you get the chance!
It's a great trip. The sculptures in nature and the paintings were very impressive. Our guide Jasmine has guided us great and told us a lot, explained. It was sensational.
First of all, thanks for the misleading reviews, I almost canceled my visit as I was concerned about the drive to the place. It wasn't that bad. I managed to reach the place with my small sedan. You just have to drive carefully (don't we all?). So, the place is amazing. The view from the main gallery and the park is amazing. It was a nice stroll along the park. I really like the collections, especially the paintings. Everything is about Jamaica and the people. I would highly recommend this trip. It will only take half day max from Negril.
Brought our Driver here for his 1st time today with his son, and another long time visitor…. Had an amazing day with an amazing guide named Lisa! She said she was in training but was a 10 !
This place is a great cultural gallery with paintings by Bruce Allen and great outside sculptures throughout a large area surrounded by nature. It I also had great views of the horizon and rich history. Worth the visit. Something for everyone. While I appreciated the wood carvings and paintings, my kids loved the large sculptures throughout the park. Be prepared because it takes one hour and half to get there from Montego Bay. The roods are not good. Do when there is no rain. The entrance fee is outrageous at $39, however they are willing to give a discount, ask for that. They need the support since this is a new touristic place.
A must see, an amazing place, guides were friendly and welcoming and fun, very knowlegeable. Journey up scary as it was raining but still get to see and feel Jamaica outside of resort. Thank you for the tour and I wish the soursop was in season!
