Bali Waterfalls & Adventure: A Full-Day Adrenaline Itinerary
Beyond the beaches, Bali's interior is an adventure playground — jungle waterfalls with swimmable plunge pools, giant swings over palm valleys, class II–III rapids on the Ayung River and ATV trails that dive through tunnels and rice fields. Here's how to pack the best of it into one action-filled day, with the top-rated tours to book.

Morning: chase the waterfalls
Start early with a waterfall run. Tegenungan is the easiest, just 20 minutes from Ubud (entry around IDR 20,000), while Tibumana and Kanto Lampo offer quieter pools and better photos. The prize is Sekumpul in northern Bali — a cluster of 80-metre falls reached by a steep trek of roughly 400 steps, where local rules require a guide. Book a tour with hotel pickup; the falls are two hours' drive from Ubud.
Midday: the jungle swing
On the way back through Ubud's river valleys, stop for the famous Bali swing — you're harnessed in and launched out over a palm-filled gorge, with swings at several heights up to about 20 metres. Standalone swing packages start from roughly $15–25 and most include photo stops, nests and viewpoints. It's tamer than it looks, and many waterfall tours bundle a swing stop into the same day.
Afternoon: rafting the Ayung River
The Ayung River near Ubud serves up two hours of class II–III white water — lively enough to be fun, gentle enough for first-timers and kids from about age seven. Trips run from around $25–40 including equipment, a safety briefing and usually a buffet lunch overlooking the river. Bring a change of clothes and a dry bag for your phone; you will get soaked.
Or go full throttle: ATV quad biking
Swap the paddle for handlebars on an ATV ride through Ubud's backcountry — muddy jungle trails, river crossings, rice-field tracks and the famous tunnel and waterfall sections. Rides last around two hours with single and tandem quads available, from roughly $45–75 including gear and lunch. Combo packages pairing ATV with rafting or the swing are the best value if you want the whole adrenaline menu in one day.
