Beginning this tour by walking the Royal Mile helped set the stage for the grandeur of Edinburgh Castle. Our guide, Graeme, provided exceptional commentary and guidance and then encouraged us to explore the castle at our own pace. A great introduction to the history of the castle and the option to then visit specific sites of interest within its walls.
Instructions on how to find the start of the tour could have been clearer. The tour guide was well informed and friendly but often did not wait for people in the tour to take photos and see the places they were pointing out. In several occasions we saw the tour guide leaving without notifying the group we were moving on, leaving members behind.
This guided tour is more of an overview of the castle than it is an in-depth tour, but that's fine as it leaves you at the end to wander as you see fit around the castle and spend as much time as you want going through whichever exhibits you find most interesting. Our guide, Graeme, was funny, knowledgeable, easy to understand even with his Scottish accent, and tall, which made him easy to spot if you got slightly separated. The other thing about the tour is it is a much easier way to get entry tickets than through the official website. When I decided to visit the castle as the weather looked like it was going to be good, the official site was totally sold out for the entire day as well as the next day, but the tour operator had availability.
Ben C was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and entertaining
Ben was an incredible guide and made the experience joyous with great stories and suggestions. His kindness and historical knowledge made him the best guide we’ve ever had and the castle that much more amazing!
We had a fantastic Edinburgh Castle tour today with Little Fish Tours, and our guide, Steph, was absolutely brilliant. From the moment the tour began, Steph was enthusiastic, engaging and incredibly knowledgeable. She had a wonderful way of bringing the history of Edinburgh Castle to life through fascinating real-life stories, making every stop interesting and memorable. What really stood out was how well she connected with the whole group. She catered to all ages, kept everyone’s attention throughout, and had the perfect balance of humour, storytelling and historical facts. You could tell she genuinely loves what she does, and that enthusiasm was infectious. We’ve been on quite a few guided tours over the years, and Steph is genuinely one of the best tour guides we’ve had. She made the experience enjoyable from start to finish and gave us a real appreciation of the castle’s incredible history. I would highly recommend booking with Little Fish Tours, and if you’re lucky enough to get Steph as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic experience. Thank you, Steph, for making our visit to Edinburgh Castle such a highlight of our trip!
Euan was amazing! Tour was entertaining, educational, and super interesting. Euan made it so easy and fun to follow along on so much interesting history, even my 10 yo and 75 yo mother were chuckling and loving it! Great for the whole family, amazing views, would highly recommend!
Our guide made this unforgettable! It was a hot day and not much shade but our guide kept us interested with all her facts and knowledge of the castle and its history. Definitely recommend taking this tour and with our guide too!
Interesting and fun. Graeme was a great tour guide with plenty of stories and historical knowledge of the site.
Our tour was truly incredible, we learned quite a lot! Our tour guide Euan was always in for a witty joke and could answer all our questions in detail. We definitely recommend!
