What a great day learning about pasta and truffles .. making pasta from scratch and creating amazing truffle ravioli and fettuchini in a beautiful setting!
My wife and I had a wonderful experience learning how to make pasta! We would absolutely do this again. Thank you to Virginia and Nadia for hosting us. We highly recommend this class!
This class is wonderful and Virginia is an excellent instructor! I have made traditional egg & flour pasta for a number of years, but her approach was a revelation! We were lucky to have done the class at her home in a beautiful Medieval village in the heart of the prosciuto production zone of Parma. After learning the simplicity of making the pasta we then made a variety of ravioli - the general term for filled pasta - in many shapes such as tortelloni, mezaluna and sun shapes. We also learned how to use a pasta press corectly and with half of the dough we also made the simple long pasta that is generally called tagliolini or ribbon pasta. Virgina along with her mother then prepared a delicious lunch with the ravioli and pasta that we prepared. Highly recommend this for its authenticity and her wonderful teaching style! If you can attend at her home, definitely choose that option as the atmosphere is just very special!
We signed up for a cooking class at $199 and it was canceled due to not enough people signing up. The class operator said the refund was issued but it never showed up on my credit card. I communicated with both Viator customer service and the class operator and was told by the operator it was refunded while Viator told me the operator refused to refund my money. I finally disputed this to my credit card company and it was my credit card company that refunded my money for me. I will never use Viator again based on them refusing to refund my money when they are the ones that canceled the class.
The refund was issued directly by me immediately after the cancellation, and you were also provided with screenshots clearly confirming that the refund had been processed. This shows that everything was handled transparently and in good faith on our side. For this reason, it’s a bit unfair to leave a negative review for a class you did not attend, especially when the issue was due to an unforeseen circumstance and the refund was correctly issued. That said, I do understand your frustration, and I’m sorry the experience did not meet your expectations.
Wonderful experience. Fun, great food and wine
Thanks so much, Virginia, for welcoming us in your mountain home for a cozy and relaxed pasta experience for my husband and our two daughters ages 9 and 12. There were also two other lovely Canadians in the class. We made two types of pasta, a ravioli stuffed with spinach (or herbs?) and ricotta and then a flat pasta. Everyone got a chance at kneading the dough, using the pasta machine, and cutting the ravioli. The kids were super into it and Virginia was calm and patient. She included everyone in the process. Then we sat down to a nicely set table (by Virginia’s mom) and we tasted an amazing vegetable/onion tart made by her, some local cheese, our delicious pasta and a tiramisu Virginia prepared just for us! We also had some sparkling wine! If you have the opportunity to do the class in Calestano-do it for the beautiful countryside and a sneak peek at a very picturesque village. This was a perfect family experience! One tip: Her place is small so just make sure your kids are actually interested in making the pasta and keen on the whole process from start to finish as there is not much room to run around.
This was the perfect way to spend part of the day in Parma. Virginia was an incredible teacher and made this such a special experience. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a great lesson on pasta making and a delicious meal!
Had a very good time learning how to make fresh pasta! Activity has been relocated at Calestano in the countryside of Parma : I got to enjoy the scenery getting there. Activity is organized in small group which as appreciated. We got to make tagliatelle and ravioli. Afterwards lunch was served with antipasto and tiramisu in addition to the freshly made pasta. Weather was a bit cold to enjoy at most the terrace but site was lovely. Would definitely recommend the activity!
Beautiful experience in a picturesque location in the Parma hills. Pasta is prepared thanks to the help of an excellent teacher, with subsequent aperitif and typical Emilian lunch.
We felt super pampered, from start to finish. The experience is absolutely worth doing, both for the lesson itself and for the meal that was offered to us after, starting from appetizer to dessert. We came from Rome and it is beautiful to discover and understand the various techniques of the place. They were very sweet and very nice. Highly recommended.
