We were on a tour of Peru and had a free day so we decided to look for a cooking class and found this wonderful class! Maria and Marissa welcomed us into their beautiful home. Marissa was translating her mom’s instructions for us but had to leave so Ulica arrived and took over and did a fantastic job! First up was Ceviche. We learned some secrets of how to make it properly and turned out soooo delicious! Next up was Causa Rellena…this was fun to make and even more fun eating! This was also delicious! Next we made a fruit salad with some locally available fruits. They were sweet and delicious as well. Last but not least, we made Pisco Sour. I’ve had Pisco Sour in the states before but not like the one we made in the class. It was much more refreshing and not so strong on the alcohol taste which I always found over powering in the states. We just need to find the Pisco we used! Thank you to Maria for a wonderful afternoon! It was educational, fun, and delicious! If we ever are back in Arequipa we would take the class again…not only for the delicious food but to see some newly made friends! Wishing Maria and Marissa continued success!!!
We had a wonderful evening. Everything was explained to us calmly and we had a lot of fun preparing the traditional dishes. The background to the dishes and the culture was explained to us and of course everything tasted excellent. Thank you for this great experience.
I came to Arequipa during the rainy season so had the good fortune of being the only guest for this cooking lesson. Marisa is a very experienced cocinera, having run a restaurant in Cusco for years. We made ceviche, another Peruvian dish & Pisco Sours together while her daughter took pictures described the history of these dishes - it was an authentic cultural experience. If you enjoy cooking & food culture at all, I recommend 5/5 .
Perfect experience. Marisa is a wonderful chef and instructor with great support from her lovely daughter Mari. Well organized, beautiful foods, classic recipes (ceviche, causa, pisco sour snd mango dessert). Plus you are in someone’s home. I opted for no English translation to practice my Spanish. Only ten minutes from plaza de armas by uber. Really recommend this clsss!
My wife and I wanted to experience a cooking class in Peru so we booked in the Peruvian Cooking Class in Arequipa. Merisa and Maree welcomed us into their home and together we prepared our evening meal of 3 courses and the national drink, a Pisco Sour, all from instructions from them both. We then sat down and enjoyed our creations with them both with the whole experience being well organized with Maree translating for us as Marisa didn't speak English. The evening was warm and welcoming and both hosts were were fantastic. Highly recommend.
Julia and translator Leo were amazing. We had lots of fun making food and Pisco sour, and just chatting away. We made ceviche, causa de pollo and fruit salad. It was a lot of food so go empty stomach!
We had such a good time preparing ceviche, a stuffed potato dish, and pisco sours. They made us feel so welcome just like family. Thank you for the excellent experience!
We had an amazing experience at this Peruvian cooking class! We learned to prepare delicious traditional dishes with fresh, authentic ingredients, and every step was explained with clear, step-by-step guidance. Marisa and her daughter Maria were incredibly warm and welcoming – their hospitality made us feel right at home. They took plenty of time to answer questions, share cooking tips, and make sure we understood each stage of the process. It felt like cooking with family while discovering the rich flavors of Peru. I can’t recommend this class highly enough!
Fantastic experience. It's like visiting your family. A Homely Mood with a Professional Chef. The dishes were delicious and the conversations were fantastic. I would recommend everyone to enter this ‘regular household’ to get acquainted with Peruvian cuisine!
The cooking course was really fantastic. A perfect experience to actually get acquainted with Peruvian cuisine. The chef and her daughter are incredibly sweet which made the experience feel like visiting family. I would recommend everyone to take this course because this Home Mood and interaction creates a real local experience and good conversations with nice people.
