All aspects of our 5 day Salkantay Hike was very well organised. Our guide Edgar was very knowledgeable on the area and ensured everyone was comfortable all throughout the hike. The food and accommodation during the 5 days was exceptional and definitely good value for money!
It was an amazing trek. Our guide Franz (Andean Goat) is so passionate to share Inca culture, religion and the beautiful landscape with us. He took good care of everyone in the group and make sure the trek goes smoothly. We ate so well and had beautiful accommodations along the trek.
I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience on the 5-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. Before the trip, I expected great views, but everything else completely exceeded my expectations. The food was amazing every single day, the service was excellent, and the places we stayed were all different and had incredible views. It never felt like we were just staying somewhere to sleep – each place was part of the experience. The trek is definitely tough, especially on the day you cross the Salkantay Pass, but every step is worth it. The landscapes are constantly changing, and there were so many moments where we just had to stop and take it all in. A huge shoutout to our guide, Franz, better known as the “Andean Goat”. He has so much knowledge about the mountains and the local culture, but what really stood out was his energy and sense of humor. He kept the group motivated the whole way and somehow made the hardest parts fun. “Vamos Chicos” And I also have to mention our chef, Guido. I still don’t understand how he managed to cook such delicious meals out there in the mountains. Every meal was something to look forward to after a long day of hiking. If you’re thinking about doing the Salkantay Trek, just do it. It was one of the highlights of my trip to Peru, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book it again.
Amazing experience with the best guide, Franze.
Amazing 5 day trek through the Peruvian Andes to Machu Picchu. (1) The accommodations were incredible (2) our guide, Juan Carlos, was able to expertly pace our group as we adjusted to the altitude, providing special details along the way about Inca culture and (3) our cooks, Brenda and Alex made sure we had the fuel we needed to see the journey through. This trek exceeded my expectations and I speak for my whole group when I say we felt well taken care of every step of the way
The entire trek was challenging and rewarding. Our guide did everything he could to educate and help us along the way, culminating at the perfect place in Machu Picchu to watch the sunrise over the citadel. Gorgeous country, fascinating history made real by our guide, Edgar, and good food and accommodations along the way. Everyone was friendly, generous, and kind. This is not easy, though. Physically and mentally, the trek is a challenge. Be ready to struggle and trust that it is very much worth it. I came for a bucket list view of Machu Picchu but I leave with a love and respect for Peru. Well done, Edgar and Salkantay Trekking.
We had an amazing experience being guided by the best leader, Edgar. He really made the trip special. Salkantay is beautiful and going over the pass was something I'll never forget. The downhills were brutal on my knees but it was worth it to get to Machu Picchu. The food on the trek was wonderful - a luxury experience. The accommodation was very nice too, with hot showers at 3 of the places. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone thinking about doing it. Make sure you have a good level of fitness and do some training to get more enjoyment out of it.
Amazing experience. My first solo trek and Salkantay Trekking made it simple and easy. Franz was an amazing guide. He shared plenty of lessons and stories throughout the trek and supported us until the end. Guido made some amazing food. All accommodations were well organized and beautiful. Thanks!
This was a once in a lifetime experience for me! The physical/mental challenge, the incredible views, the excellent coordination of logistics, and our wonderful guide, Franz (the Andean Goat) were all highlights. As a solo traveler, I felt well supported and comfortable with the group and the experience the whole time. While the trek was challenging, I never felt unsafe or out of control. We were extremely well fed every day by our head chef Guido, and assistant Alex, who prepared very good food under a variety of unique and sometimes challenging conditions. Our guide Franz was a very good teacher and communicator. We were never lost or confused about what was happening. Each day of the trek he gave us lots of context about Peru, Inka history, and all the local communities we visited. Through him, we all became more passionate about Peru. I am so grateful for this experience and I strongly recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors, hiking, history and culture!
I had an amazing week with Salkantay Trekking. Our guide Franz was great and was really passionate about everything during the trail. The nature is beautiful and the food was delicious as well. I could recommend this to anyone who wants to have an unforgettable experience in Peru!
