We did the climb to the San Lucca Sanctuary on foot and that was tough considering the heat. We were very happy that we had a place back on the open train back to the center. We got earpieces and explanations of what we saw along the way. This was not always easy to understand (too much noise from driving and the road) , also rather simplistic.Wel in Dutch with heavy Dutch accent which was also not always easy to understand. But still happy with the ride.
Absolutely appalling and shocking experience- misinformation regarding ticket collections and times not properly described, pathetic communications, over subscribed, short changed on tasting vouchers A DEFINITE ONE TO MISS
When I purchased this tour, I informed the operator that my mother was traveling with me and was mobility impaired. They assured me that there was not much walking, and that the train and bus would be able to accommodate my mother when we arrived, we met the representative from the company and were eventually taken to the line for the Express train. As I was guiding my mother along with her cane, obviously having a difficult time of it, the company representative and the train assistant were trying to find a space for her to sit as the crowd of people quickly filled up all the cars in front of us. We eventually crammed her into a space next to two other women, and then I crammed myself right beside her, which was way too many people on that row. We discovered after we arrived at the top of the mountain, that there was a car at the end of the train that was specifically for people with mobility issues. We were not taken to that car and it was already full of people who seemed to be physically able when we arrived at the mountain top. It seems that the operator of a tour company like this would be aware of the last car being a mobility/impaired car that was easier to get in and out of. This was very aggravating to realize and also the area at the top of the mountain, where the train parked was a good distance away from the viewing area and the church that you could go and visit. So we just moved to the last car and sat in the mobility impaired car for the trip back down. My mother was so tired from the effort that we didn’t even bother to go on the rest of the tour and try the city bus or any of the food vouchers.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that the tour is accessible to guests with reduced mobility, including wheelchair users. A dedicated space can be reserved on the train for wheelchairs; however, as we were informed that a walking stick would be used rather than a wheelchair, our staff accommodated the guests in the standard seating area. The Basilica is located on a hill, and access is facilitated through the train service and dedicated ramps. While the site is designed to be accessible, the level of physical effort required can vary from person to person, and unfortunately this is not something we are able to assess in advance. We would also like to note that the package included a combined train and bus ticket valid for 48 hours, as well as tasting vouchers. As explained by our staff at the meeting point, the bus service could also be used on the following day and the tasting vouchers were flexible and could be redeemed at a later time within their validity period. We always strive to provide clear information and the best possible assistance to our guests. While we regret that the experience did not fully match your expectations, we are confident that all services included in the package were provided as described. Thank you again for your feedback.
