Denna tankeväckande, UNIKA och ENGAGERANDE turné, "Never Again", har skapats för att hjälpa besökarna att reda ut verkligheten och mardrömmarna i en av de mörkaste perioderna i modern historia. Det är dags för en resa av medvetande, en strävan efter att minnas och förändra. Det pratas inte tillräckligt om vad som hände, vi måste se till att det inte händer igen. Vi kommer att prata om offren för detta koncentrationsläger och Förintelsen i allmänhet, och dra paralleller till aktuella händelser. Samtalet är utformat för att utmana oss alla. Saker att notera: Turen är avsedd för personer som är 13 år eller äldre. Varje guide kommer att identifieras med en liten gul flagga och vårt namn! Den här turen innebär mycket promenader.

Vår promenad från tågstationen leder oss till besökscentret, där detaljerade modeller av lägret belyser de fysiska strukturerna utformade för kontroll och upprätthållandet av överlägsenhet över fångar. Upptäck den oroande förvandlingen av det tidigare SS-träningslägret till dagens Brandenburgs polisakademi, en skarp påminnelse om platsens mörka historia. Ge dig ut på en autonom utforskning av fångarnas baracker och lägerköket, där nynazister som förnekar förintelsen har inlett attacker. Upptäck kopplingar till nuet, inklusive uppkomsten av AfD, en tysk extremhögergrupp. Slutligen avslöjar sjukstugan djupet av rasism, kontroll över kvinnors kroppar, eugenik och den oroande sanningen om fångar som behandlas som labbråttor för nazistiska läkares karriärframsteg. Our guide was super competent and we had such an informative visit. So yes you have to walk and you will soon understand that it does not matter..A big thank you. Let us remain vigilant and far-sighted so that this type of behaviour NEVER happens again.

There are no words to describe what happened there but there are some for this visit: very friendly guide, understandable explanations with language appropriate to the situation. We were able to ask all the questions we had because there were only 8. I recommend Siobhan as a guide!

We toured in February and despite the cold and atmosphere of the camp, our guide managed to keep the tone to explain clearly what was at stake in this camp. I really enjoyed the experience but I wish I "never" needed to make such a visit again. The team was very attentive to our needs.

I was on the fence about visiting Sachsenhausen but in the end I was really glad that I made the trip and used with this outfit. To be clear, this is not a dense, academic, scripted tour but still one that thoroughly explains Sachsenhausen's uniquely grim history as, first, the Nazi's "model" concentration camp, later a Soviet "special" camp and finally a pro-communist, anti-fascist propaganda tool. What I liked about and believe differentiates this tour, is that our guide Siobhán's knowledgable commentary was filtered through a progressive, feminist lens, connecting the past with the present. (It is not heavy handed, but if this is not your political slant, this might not be the tour for you.) Siobhán was very sensitive to the extraordinary brutality, suffering, and loss of life that took place at Sachsenhausen as well as the feelings of those who visit the site, and she imparted this deference to the group. That said, while she rightfully set a respectful tone, she also managed to insert an appropriate level of levity (if that is the right word?) at certain points, so that while the tour was certainly very sad and at times absolutely sickening, I left feeling educated-- better, not broken. I will also add that a few participants (including me) had travel snags, and the outfitter was very helpful, patient and communicative. All in all, it was a very positive experience that I would recommend to friends.
