Doze antigas cavernas feitas pelo homem foram descobertas na terra de Ægissíða por Hella na costa sul da Islândia. Cinco deles já estão abertos ao público em nossos passeios guiados. O local histórico é o mais antigo dos restos arqueológicos ainda em pé da Islândia, alguns acreditam que as cavernas datam ainda mais do que o assentamento dos vikings nórdicos. A fascinating experience that adds new information to the story of Iceland. As is often the case in life, things are more complicated than an initial view suggests. It is particularly interesting as the archeology is still developing and theories and discoveries are being developed and made right into the present. This was an enlightening look into the history and impact of the Irish on the ancient history of Iceland.

We had a very informative tour of the caves with our guide. He was very knowledgeable and offered a different perspective on early settlement in Iceland. The caves were pretty cool also. Would definitely recommend the tour.

We really enjoyed our tour of the caves. It surpassed our expectations. The guide was very knowledgable and entertaining. This place just got started in 2020 and is already something fabulous. It will just get better as time goes on.

The marketing perhaps misrepresents the caves and what you will see. There are multiple man made caves dotting the south coast of Iceland though these were the only we found we could explore. It is interesting to see how they were dug out and learn of the uses of the caves but most of that is in relatively modern times. Which is fine and still very interesting. We enjoyed the tour but it was definitely something that was over promised and under delivered. The Guide was knowledgeable, fun, and helped make this tour more interesting.

The Caves of Hella Tour was amazing. The caves themselves were beautiful, and I was able to get lots of amazing pictures. What I didn’t expect was the amazing and rich history I learned on my tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and the history was very interesting, and we definitely learned things we wouldn’t have online or anywhere else (the good and the bad!) I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about going!!!

Must see caves dug be the first inhabitants of Iceland. Runes and cross carvings in the wall. Gift shop and cafe is excellent and the staff and guide are all fantastic and entertaining.
