Três décadas se passaram desde o fim do comunismo. Apesar do tremendo crescimento que a Romênia experimentou desde então, os resquícios desse regime ainda são perceptíveis. É por isso que muitos aspectos da vida cotidiana foram transformados pelo comunismo: da classe política à saúde pública e à arquitetura urbana. Descubra as muitas histórias chocantes de como era a vida sob o comunismo. Além disso, aprenda sobre a brutalidade com que este sistema foi aplicado na Romênia. Localizada no meio da cidade, a Praça Unirii foi projetada durante a última fase do comunismo na Romênia. Espetacular graças às suas esplêndidas fontes, também é atravessada pela maior avenida de Bucareste: a antiga Avenida Vitória do Socialismo. Ficar aqui e dar um passeio na avenida revelará a visão megalomaníaca que o ditador romeno reservou para Bucareste.
O Palácio do Parlamento é o segundo maior edifício do mundo depois do Pentágono e o edifício administrativo mais caro. Veremos este edifício do lado de fora e teremos uma verdadeira sensação do seu tamanho gigantesco. Para isso, grandes quantidades de dinheiro, materiais e esforço de trabalho foram necessários. Além disso, esta estrutura foi feita ao submeter o povo romeno a escassez de todos os tipos durante a década de 1980. Você vai ouvir toda a história de como este enorme edifício foi feito, o que os moradores pensam sobre ele, tendo-o visto de diferentes ângulos. Em frente ao palácio está o edifício Academia Romana, uma construção em grande escala de estilo semelhante. Era destinado ao uso da esposa do ditador, Elena Ceausescu. No entanto, como vários outros edifícios dos anos 80, foi apenas meio acabado. Hoje em dia, uma grande parte dele é deixada em ruínas como lembrete doloroso da visão megalomânica do ditador de Bucareste.
Você descobre como algumas igrejas foram destruídas enquanto outras foram salvas de forma chocante durante o período comunista. As igrejas escondidas atrás dos prédios utilitários são uma visão curiosa que mostra como o Partido Comunista lidou com a religião. O Mihai Voda Churchh é um local religioso da Idade Média que felizmente sobreviveu ao frenesi de demolições e é um testemunho de como Bucareste era antes.
A Praça da Revolução é onde o regime comunista começou e onde tudo terminou com os protestos populares durante a Revolução de 1989. Você verá o prédio que abrigava o gabinete de Ceausescu, a varanda onde o ditador fez seu último discurso e os lugares que viram o primeiro manifestação em massa em Bucareste. Aqui você entenderá o que aconteceu com aqueles que se manifestaram contra o totalitarismo, a história por trás do monumento a eles dedicado e o que aconteceu no rescaldo da Revolução.
O local onde os principais protestos contra o comunismo ocorreram em 1989, com centenas sendo massacradas por sua crença em uma sociedade livre.

I am deeply disappointed with this experience; it is definitely not worth the price. The tour guide (I believe his name was Stefan) had a terrible attitude. The entire time he was rushing us and didn't give us enough time to actually enjoy the places we visited. The icing on the cake was when he called me just to yell at me because I decided to stay behind instead of returning with the group. Since I couldn’t enjoy the castles properly, I explained to him that it was my birthday and I wanted to stay longer to explore. He rudely snapped back, asking if I thought he was going to wait for me until tomorrow. Terrible service altogether. He didn’t explain anything well; we paid for a Spanish tour, but he spoke in English most of the time, and when he did speak Spanish, it was barely understandable. On top of that, he was rude and completely lacked empathy.
I really enjoyed the Bucharest Under Communism: Life, Terror & Hope tour last weekend and it was a really great experience. The tour was very interesting and well explained, with lots of insights into what life was actually like during the communist period. Also as a bonus we got overall tips for the city (where to eat, where to go to etc) The guide made the history easy to understand and engaging, sharing stories that you wouldn’t get just by reading or visiting on your own. It really helps you see Bucharest or Romania from a local.

Stefania was an incredible guide from start to finish! She communicated before the tour, met the two of us (no one else booked on) in pouring rain (our choice, we were unable to do any other day, though this was offered to us) and Stefania was so knowledgeable, professional and kind. The 3+ hours tour flew by and we had a sense of the city of Bucharest and its people that no other experience in our visit had provided for us. Thankyou Stefania!!

Extremely well put together, very thorough, as complete as possible within the scheduled period of time (3.5 hours), extraordinary, informative, and detailed. All these presented by a very knowledgeable, kind, fun, very professional, passionate, and patient guide!!! We never expected to enjoy the tour so much !!! And on top of that, the tour price was amazingly affordable for this unique experience !!! Extremely grateful for the experience that Stefania provided!!!

We had already done the morning tour of the old city and in the afternoon we also did the “communism” tour. Laura was professional, nice and explained so many things that we did not know.
