Meer dan duizend jaar geschiedenis wacht erop ontdekt te worden in dit fantastische middeleeuwse kasteel. Dit prachtige kasteel, gelegen tegen de rivier de Avon, in een aangelegd park van 64 hectare, behoorde ooit toe aan de machtigste man van Engeland, de graaf van Warwick. Leer hoe de 'Kingmaker' de enige man was die de koning durfde te trotseren, en hoe hij de legers van koning Edward IV in de strijd versloeg voordat hij de koning zelf gevangen nam. Verken de rijkelijk versierde State Rooms en de 17e-eeuwse Grote Zaal; een kamer met een indrukwekkende verzameling artefacten, waaronder harnassen en middeleeuwse wapens. In de 14e-eeuwse gevangenis van het kasteel, de oorspronkelijke kerker, zie je graffiti die honderden jaren geleden door gevangenen is achtergelaten. Hoeveel namen kun je herkennen?

Onze laatste stop, ook wel bekend als 'The City of Dreaming Spires', is de beroemdste universiteitsstad van het VK en de thuisbasis van de oudste universiteit in de Engelssprekende wereld, de Universiteit van Oxford. Geniet van een wandeltocht door de stad met je deskundige gids, die de charme en geschiedenis van deze ongelooflijke stad tot leven zal brengen. Oxford is de enige plaats in het land waar je voorbeelden vindt van elke architectonische periode die teruggaat tot de Saksische tijd. Terwijl je met je gids door de geplaveide straten dwaalt, zie je bezienswaardigheden zoals de Brug der Zuchten, Trinity College, het Ashmolean Museum en The Sheldonian Theatre.

Our guide Pablo was very good. Wish we had a little more time to explore the castle, gift shop and grounds. Also, one brief stop at one of the Cotswolds villages would have been icing on the cake.

Today’s trip was a wonderful journey through England’s rich history and culture, and Anna made it even more special. We started at Warwick, exploring its magnificent castle and medieval charm. From there, we headed to Stratford-upon-Avon, enjoying the beautiful streets and soaking in the hometown of Shakespeare. We had a great time exploring these historic sites. Our guide Ana was excellent and had a great sense of humor. Our girls enjoyed the variety of things to do and the kids play area at Warwick Castle. There was a beautiful spot by the Avon River to have lunch, and the amount of knowledge at Oxford was astounding. Malcolm our driver did a great job of getting us in and out of these tight cities.

Great experience. Loved Warwick Castle, SHAKESPEARE’S Birth Place and Oxford. Great sites! Logistics were easy. Our guide Anna was very helpful and personable. The experience with Anna (guide) and Marco our driver could not have been better. The pick up location at Victoria Coach Station was very convenient and centrally located. Anna did a great job at getting us through all of the stops even given. How busy it was. The highlights of the trip included Oxford University and The Birth Home of Shakespeare. The castle, while not your traditional castle tour, was still very good and great photo opportunities. I would highly recommend this for people looking to get away from the busy London sites and take in more of the country side. The drive through the Cotswolds was a nice breakout from the tours we experienced. Great job!

Not really worth paying for the tour as it amounted to trying to hear the guide in one ear piece while hearing all the traffic and crowd noise in the other as you travel as a large group thru crowded streets. Didn’t see much of Oxford, thought Warwick Castle had more to do with W Churchill, and drive thru Cotswolds in a speeding bus—we saw two thatched cottages. Take a train to Oxford and hire a local tour.
