De Metekhi-kathedraal is een van de oudste religieuze constructies in Tbilisi. De eerste kerk op deze plaats werd gebouwd door koning Vakhtang Gorgasali in de VI eeuw. Dezelfde koning wordt beschouwd als een bouwer van Tbilisi. De naam van de plaats is een oud Georgisch woord, wat betekent - "grondgebied rond het paleis" Deze naam is een ander bewijs van het historische feit dat hier koninklijke residenties van Georgië waren gevestigd.
Naast het historische belang, bevindt het Narinkala-fort zich op het hoogste punt van de oude stad, vanwaar men kan genieten van een ongelooflijk mooi uitzicht op Tbilisi. De geschiedenis gaat terug tot de 6e eeuw na Christus, maar heeft daarna een lange en lastige geschiedenis, waaronder veel verwoestingen. Interessant is dat het fort vele namen heeft. Door de eeuwen heen heette het: "Het fort van afgunst", "Moederfort van Tbilisi" "NarinKala"
De Botanische Tuin van Tbilisi werd gesticht op basis van de koninklijke tuin, die daar al sinds de 17e eeuw bestond. Tegenwoordig strekt het zich uit over 97 hectare en heeft het meer dan 3500 soorten planten uit verschillende delen van de wereld.
De wijk Bath is het hart van het oude Tbilisi. Het is een plek waar het leven in de stad begon, waar de eerste leerlooiers arriveerden en waar koning Vakhtang een fazant doodde volgens een zeer bekende legende over het ontstaan van de stad. Dit is een plek waar het beroemde zwavelwater door een kloof stroomt en waar nog steeds de overblijfselen van de verdedigingsmuur van de stad bewaard zijn gebleven.
Na een wandeling door de gezellige kleine straatjes van het oude Tbilisi bezoek je de kathedraal van Sioni (VII c.) Onder de interessante en opvallende architectuur zie je het kruis van verlichting van Georgia-Saint Nina.

De Anchiskhati-basiliek is de oudste kerk in Tbilisi, die zelfs in tijden van Arabische bezetting van de stad functioneerde. Je gids heeft er alle verhalen over.
Passeer het Rezo Gabriadze Puppet Theatre, dat sinds de bouw erg populair werd onder toeristen en reizigers vanwege zijn interessante architectuur.

This experience was worth every penny, and the wine was excellent. We learned so much and had an amazing time! We had the most wonderful guide, Gerogi! We don’t think there’s anything this man doesn’t know. You can test this theory for yourself if you get him, but we still think he knows the answer to everything! Also he is cool!
We had an amazing experience with Ana being our tour guide, she made our trip the best and it was worth. Would highly recommend Ana!
We Had a great time touring Georgia for the first time,Along with Ana as our Guide, She's very well informed about the history,very polite accommodating and helpful.we started as a guide and ended as good friends. Would recommend her without a doubt...if its Georgia tour..then it must be with Ana ...good luck n best wishes to her... My family and friends had a very good time in tiblisi and batumi. Georgia is a free country and is a must visit tourist destination. Aana was our tour guide and was with us on all the 6 days. I visited Georgia in a group tour in Feb/ March 2022 and enjoyed a lot. Our group consisted of adults as well as young children (who were kept entertained). The way the entire tour experience was managed by Ana and her team was absolutely fantastic. We were, throughout the almost week long trip, treated with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. Great depth of knowledge in explaining the historical significance of the locations. Definitely recommend them to anyone and would also be looking them up again for my future trip to Georgia.
It was an amazing and relaxing trip for my family this August 2021. Ana was our tour guide and she was excellent, she did know her work, place and its history very well. She is a person who actually cares for tourist, their views and accommodating time & change in plans accordingly. I have visited many places, but when to relax and ease of your mind, I would suggest you go to Georgia. Ana I would highly recommend for you as your tour guide if you need to know the history, culture, people, etc. of Georgia, she was guiding us on the days we had on our own what to be done and where to go as well. Few additional attraction we had booked with the help of Ana at a better price with her help, like paragliding, river rafting, etc. Ana is very careful with tourist safety, as we had gone with our 9 year old kid, it was Ana who took care of him and our safety all through the trip. We are planning to visit Armenia next year and my son is asking Ana to come there to be our tour guide :) We will definitely revisit Georgia during the winters.
I had the pleasure to explore Georgia with Ana in 2017 and had a wonderful time. Ana is a very professional guide, with a deep knowledge of both history and culture of her beautiful country. Knowing my love for local cuisine, Ana went out of her way to take me to the best restaurants serving authentic Georgian food. We explored open markets as well and I got to enjoy more foods and spices to take back home. I won’t forget the great dinner we had with a traditional dance show in Tbilisi on our final tour night. Ana went out of her way to make sure my tour was memorable, and I look forward to returning one day to tour with her again. Highly recommended!
