Deze tour biedt een authentieke ervaring van Tbilisi, begeleid door de lokale bevolking die de geschiedenis en cultuur van de stad tot leven brengen. Samen verkennen we de belangrijkste hoogtepunten van de oude binnenstad, van oude kerken die de diepe spirituele wortels van Georgië onthullen tot bezienswaardigheden die de unieke mix van oud en nieuw van de stad laten zien. In tegenstelling tot andere tours, nemen we een pauze bij een traditionele bakkerij, waar je kunt genieten van verse, lokale smaken en meer te weten kunt komen over de geliefde gerechten van Georgië, zoals khachapuri en lobiani. Met verhalen die je niet in reisgidsen vindt, gaat deze tour verder dan sightseeing – het is een reis naar het hart van Tbilisi, gevuld met geschiedenis, geloof en lokale ervaringen die de stad onvergetelijk maken. Het monument, gelegen nabij Dry Bridge, toont levendige, expressieve figuren in beweging, die de geest van vrijheid en rebellie van het festival symboliseren. Het eert de rijke culturele tradities van Georgië en de blijvende kracht van artistieke expressie.
Het oudste kerkgebouw in Tbilisi is een basiliek met drie schepen uit de 6e eeuw.
De Brug van de Vrede, die relatief nieuw gebouwd is, is een must-see attractie in Tbilisi. Een brug van glas en staal in een boogvormig ontwerp ligt over de Mtkvari (Kura) rivier in de hoofdstad van Georgië.
In Tbilisi is Shardeni Street een kleine wandelstraat in de wijk Upper Kala, tussen het Vakhtang Gorgasali-plein en de Sioni-straat.
Onze gids zal uitleggen waarom het Gabriadze-theater een interessante plek in Tbilisi is. De klokkentoren staat voor het theater. Je kunt de unieke architectuur van de plek herkennen.
Het Sioni-complex bestaat uit een hek, de kathedraal van de Hemelvaart en twee klokkentorens. Sioni komt van de naam van een heilige berg in Jeruzalem. Het is een Hebreeuws woord dat zonnig betekent.
Het Tamadabeeld in Tbilisi is een bronzen beeld van een traditionele Georgische toastmeester, die een wijnhoorn (kantsi) vasthoudt in een klassiek toastgebaar. Gelegen in de oude stad in de buurt van de kathedraal van Sioni, symboliseert het de rijke wijncultuur van Georgië en het belang van supra (Georgische feest) tradities. Het beeld is geïnspireerd op een oud Tamada-beeldje dat in Vani is gevonden en dat meer dan 2000 jaar oud is, en laat zien hoe diep de rol van de toastmeester in de Georgische geschiedenis is geworteld.
Het monument, gemaakt door de Georgische kunstenaar Elguja Amashukeli, staat trots voor de Metekhi-kerk en kijkt uit over de rivier de Mtkvari (kura).
We zullen zien hoe EU-vlaggen door de wind worden weggeblazen. Georgië mikt al tientallen jaren op de EU. Ons doel is zichtbaar voor iedereen die Tbilisi bezoekt.
Het gebouw van de Grote Synagoge bevindt zich in de oude historische wijk van Tbilisi. Het werd tussen 1895 en 1903 gebouwd door Georgische joden uit Akhaltsihe.
Een kunstenaar genaamd David Monavardishvili heeft in 2016 een prachtig monument gemaakt. We kunnen ontdekken wat zijn inspiratie voor hem was. Misschien was het vroeger de levensstijl van Tbilisi? Het monument is behoorlijk indrukwekkend en je zult ontdekken hoe de kunstenaar het heeft gemaakt.
We vervolgen onze reis met een kabelbaan. De top van de berg is per kabelbaan te bereiken, waar we kunnen genieten van adembenemende uitzichten.
Rikepark is het centrum van Tbilisi. Vanaf hier nemen we de kabelbaan naar de berg.
Het moeder van Georgia-monument kijkt trots over de stad. Alle Georgische vrouwen worden vertegenwoordigd door het monument.

It was a very nice experience. We learned a lot from Tiblisi, its history, traditions and people in a very interesting and dynamic way. Teona was a very fun tour guide, she makes the tour interesting. We could try georgian bakery too.

What a wonderful guide Teona is. She is very knowledgeable about Tbilisi and its very interesting history. What was particularly fascinating was Teona's vision of Georgia's future and the country's ability to cater to the East and/or the West. Our tour was never rushed and Teona took the time to clarify our questions as first-time visitors of Georgia while we toured the different areas of the Old Town. If you are ever in the area, I cannot recommend Teona's tour highly enough. We certainly left Tbilisi knowing more thanks to Teona's knowledge and local expertise of the town. By the way, after the tour, Teona shared the names of several places to shop, eat or visit that was very helpful for the remainder of our visit! Ts'avedit!!

Had such a lovely day on this tour and I’m really glad I booked it. An awesome walking tour of this gem of a city! Teona was so knowledgable - about both history and modern culture.
