Ontdek de wonderen van Zuid-Armenië te beginnen met het Tatev-klooster, een opmerkelijk versterkt complex dat ooit diende als een van de belangrijkste middeleeuwse universiteiten van Armenië. Bereik het klooster door te rijden op de recordbrekende vleugels van Tatev, 's werelds langste non-stop dubbelsporige kabelbaan, die boven de adembenemende Vorotan-kloof zweeft. Ga verder naar de prachtige Shaki Waterval, waar kristalhelder water 18 meter naar beneden stroomt langs dramatische basaltkliffen in de buurt van Sisian. Eindig uw reis in Areni village, de wijnhoofdstad van Armenië, en geniet van een proeverij van lokale wijnen in de regio waar de wijnbereiding is ontstaan.

We rijden op de Wings of Tatev, ’s werelds langste kabelbaan (ongeveer 6 km) en een Guinness Wereldrecordhouder! Deze kabelbaan brengt ons rechtstreeks naar het historische 9e-eeuwse Tatevklooster. Onderweg wordt u getrakteerd op adembenemende uitzichten op een van de meest pittoreske gebieden in Armenië. Houd er rekening mee dat het ticket voor de kabelbaan niet bij de prijs is inbegrepen.
Een klooster dat dateert uit de 9e eeuw, dat ooit een educatief en spiritueel centrum van Armenië was. Het is gebouwd op een hoog plateau in de Vorotan rivierkloof, en is omgeven door adembenemende bergen en dichte bossen.
Shaki wordt beschouwd als een van de meest pittoreske watervallen in Armenië. Het is gelegen in de regio Syunik, die beroemd is om zijn historische en natuurlijke monumenten. De waterval is gevormd op de Shaki-rivier, op de instroom van Vorotan die vanaf een hoogte van 18 meter in een diepe kloof valt. Ondanks de kleine hoogte heeft de Shaki-waterval een grote capaciteit en het gerommel van water is van ver te horen. Er is een legende verbonden met de Shaki-waterval. Het verhaal vertelt over het mooie meisje Shake, dat van de klif snelde en weigerde de wil van de veroveraars te gehoorzamen. Tijdens het vallen ging de jurk van het meisje open in de wind en veranderde in een waterval. Ter ere van Shake werd de waterval Shaki genoemd. Het grondgebied van de Shaki-waterval werd bewoond door oude beschavingen die sporen achterlieten in rotsnissen en grotten. Een kronkelende weg leidt naar de waterval, maar je moet de auto verlaten en via een smal pad bij de waterval komen.
Areni staat bekend om zijn spectaculaire geschiedenis in de wijnbouw, en draagt de naam van een van de oudste druivensoorten ter wereld. U krijgt de kans om een lokale wijnmakerij te verkennen en te genieten van een proeverij met een selectie van verschillende wijnen.

It was a wonderful tour! The road is long, but it feels easy because outside the window is beautiful, there is beautiful music in the car, the guide tells amazing stories, jokes. Separately about the guide - we're lucky with the Nectar. She's, as I said, the "Armenian mom" of our group. She told me everything, she was very kind to everyone, she helped, she told me, she showed me the most interesting places. Driver Edgar is also very good, positive and pleasant!! Anyway, go with them - you won't regret it! The tour itself is very well structured. There are stops for snacks, lunch, toilets, everything is comfortable on the road. The food is delicious! The sights themselves, of course... well, there's just no word on how good it is. Thank Armenia for our endless surprise. It's just 10,000/10. If you are coming to Armenia, Tatev and Shaki directly mast see 100%. You'll see a lot of beauty on the way. Wine tasting is top too, everything is delicious!

This tour is definitely worth the money and time. The whole day was super smooth and fun thanks to our guide Nectar. First of all, the guide told us anecdotes about the local history so that the trip would not be boring. Also, we took many breaks. The first was at a viewpoint with magnificent mountains! We then arrived at the Monastery and the guide told us the history of the fortress, which was informative and pleasant. We resumed the return trip by stopping at a restaurant. We were able to taste local dishes with different price ranges according to everyone's means. We then stopped to see waterfalls that were magnificent! To finish, we did a tasting of wines from the region, rather atypical for us who are used to French wines. I highly recommend this expedition: rich in emotion and with an incredibly kind guide and driver.
