Tour was great. However would have liked someone to tell us right from the start what was happening. And not had as much free time. If someone could have given more direction we might have been able to Use the hop on hop Off bus also to see some sights for longer than the tour stopped. Instructions on cashing in voucher need to be more clearer also. And no access to Apple wallet tickets. Fast cats were very clean and easily used. Staff very friendly
We had a pre-booked boat and bus tour with Hillarys. It was a rather poor weather day - rainy, windy and a bit cool. The crossing was quite turbulent with many people needing to use sick bags. But when we arrived on the island it was idillic. The quokas were cute, the seagulls and crows less so. We had a lovely bus ride around the island with Rennie our driver who was informative, helpful, funny and engaging. We enjoyed a lovely fish lunch during the day, a visit to the museum to learn the various histories of the island including its tragic use as a prison for the indigenous population of WA. The boat trip back was not so bad. In all, a great experience, lots of fun, educational but moving to understand the history of the island.
Lovely day. Nice having free time and bus tour with commentary
It was a great trip and experience. The fast ferry was a very comfortable and enjoyable. The staff on board were helpful and informative.
This tour has some quick hop off/hop back on moments, and is a lovely way to see most of the island if you don't want to or can't bicycle or hike your way around. Fiona was our lovely tour guide, very friendly and knowledgeable, and even took photos for us. There are so many parts of the island to see, and if you have only one day, I would highly recommend this tour as a way to spend some of it.
First went to Rottnest in 1997, and a few times since, the bus service is good but they are too large for the small roads and put the many cyclists in a dangerous position. Also too much development taking place. The natural areas are quite fantastic, the beaches offer safe and shallow swimming. Quokkas , dolphins seals and pelicans are a marvel to see all in just one day. I will return. $170 for both.
I found this tour online when checking options for a Rottnest visit. We were picked up near our hotel and taken to Hillary's where we boarded the ferry. The crossing was pleasant and comfortable even though the ferry was very full! We had a couple of hours to wander around and have lunch before boarding our Bayseeker Tour bus for an informative trip around the island. We had a few stops and enjoyed the bus driver's commentary about the history of the island and its present day usage. He even took us to one of his favourite spots to find quokkas in the wild. Later, in the village, we enjoyed an Ice Cream at Simmo's before boarding the ferry for our return crossing. Once back at Hillary's we met our bus for the trip back to our pickup point. The whole day was extremley well organised and great value for money.
Well organised and the bus tour was great. The bus driver was very informative and gave us a good laugh too. We would never have seen as much of the island without the tour as our cycling days are well behind us. We enjoyed the ferry rides and all in all had a great day.
Very good day bus pick up on time ferry ride can be a bit bouncy due to water condtions Take bus / train tour on island of u can ride a bike
On the whole I thought the tour was good value and I learnt some interesting information about Rottnest Island. The Ferry ride was enjoyable as was the train/tram journey to the war relics and it was great to see Quokkas in natural bushland. Provided lunch appropriate. However the bus trip around the island was too long with not enough stops or time for interesting points. eg. Osprey nest. Additionally the bus drivers continual comments re his 'amazing' wife and their experiences with Rottnest were overdone and not always interesting or appropriate. I also consider there was too much focus on Rottnest history re the last war and not nearly enough about the history of our First Nations People on Rottnest. This needs to be addressed.
