Meer informatie over Mary's Column, die zijn naam gaf aan het plein; het oude en nieuwe stadhuis en het beroemde "klokkenspel" (klokkentoren). Met zijn 43 klokken en 32 figuren is de Clock Tower een van de bekendste attracties in München. Luister naar het verhaal van je gids over twee historische gebeurtenissen uitgevoerd door de houten beeldjes op vaste uren. Binnen een stap verwijderd, bereik je de oudste katholieke kerk van de stad, St. Peter. Zorg daarna voor een goed zicht op de dubbele torens van de Frauenkirche, de grootste kerk in München, met de 'voetafdruk van de duivel' en met een donkere legende eromheen. Volg je gids naar Odeonsplatz, leer over de Beer-Hall-Putsch en luister naar het verhaal van een tumultueuze nacht toen tweeduizend man, geleid door Adolf Hitler, naar het centrum van München marcheerden om de macht te grijpen. Ga langs de barokke Theatine Church, gebouwd door de keurvorst van Beieren, Ferdinand Maria en zijn vrouw als bedankje voor de geboorte van de langverwachte erfgenaam van de Beierse kroon, Prins Max Emanuel. Je ziet ook Ludwigstrasse, een neoklassieke straat, waar de Staatsbibliotheek, de oudste universiteit van München en de Poort van de Overwinning zich bevinden. Ga terug naar het centrum naar het Max-Joseph-plein, geniet van het uitzicht op de Opera, het Nationale Theater en het Koninklijk Paleis, de Residence, het voormalige paleis van de Beierse vorsten en het grootste paleis in heel Duitsland. U komt aan bij de koninklijke brouwerij, het Hofbrauhaus dat in 1589 werd opgericht en wordt beschouwd als het moederschip van alle bierhallen in de wereld. Bezoek de Viktualienmarkt, een openbare markt voor levensmiddelen, die verse lokale producten biedt.
