De eerste stop op de route is de Boog van Charents - monument-uitzichtpunt van de Bijbelse berg Ararat. Vervolgens de heidense tempel van Garni - enige staande Hellenistische heidense tempel in de Kaukasus, daterend uit de eerste eeuw na Christus - gebouwd als tempel voor de zonnegod Mihr (Mithra). Er is een goed bewaard gebleven Romeinse badhuis in het grondgebied ook. Het Geghardklooster of Ayrivank is een belangrijke architectonische, historische en religieuze bezienswaardigheid in Armenië. Het grootste deel van het klooster is uitgehouwen in een rots gecombineerd met architectuur van de 4e tot 10e eeuw Armeense Renaissance. Het Geghardklooster maakt samen met de Boven-Azatvallei deel uit van het UNESCO-werelderfgoed. """

De Garni-tempel (77 na Christus) - de eerste stop - is de enige staande tempel in het hele post-Sovjet-gebied. Garni staat sierlijk op een hoog plateau met uitzicht op de Azat rivierkloof. Je ziet ook het Romeinse badhuis met het mysterieuze mozaïek, gemaakt van 30.000 stukken natuursteen, evenals de ruïnes van het koninklijk paleis uit de 3e eeuw na Christus.
Garni Gorge is een prachtige natuurlijke attractie gelegen in Armenië, in de buurt van het dorp Garni. Het staat ook bekend als de "Symfonie van Stenen" vanwege de unieke rotsformaties die een prachtige symfonie van kleuren en vormen creëren. * Het bezoek aan de Symfonie van Stenen is onder voorbehoud van weersomstandigheden.
De volgende stop van de tour is het kloostercomplex van Geghard. In het Engels vertaald als "Klooster van de Heilige Lans", verwijst het naar de lans waarmee Longinus Jezus doorboorde. Later naar Armenië gebracht en 5 eeuwen in het Geghard-klooster bewaard. Het meest verbazingwekkende is de deugd van de architect, die de kerk recht in de massieve rots hakte terwijl hij alle regels van de Armeense architectuur in acht nam.

We had a great experience. The tour guide was very informative and we had many opportunities to stop on the drive to take photos and try some fresh lavash bread. Geghard was very crowded and amenities are not great, so better to use bathroom before travelling there. Garni was also excellent as well as the gorge which looks like the organ pipes. Tour was not rushed at all.

Edgar was an extraordinary host. We saw all shades of autumn on our way, an extremely beautiful view of Mount Ararat, a beautifully guided trip to the Garni Temple, the symphony of stones is a natural marvel that can't be told or written about, it must be witnessed with one's own eyes, and then finally visited Geghard, where Edgar showed us the symbolism and the history of the place. I must say, anyone taking the tour needs to take it with a guide, as you truly understand what each and every place represents and why it's something of value. We booked it last minute and the driver picked us up from the hotel lobby. He didn’t speak much English, but he tried and he made the experience very pleasant. We enjoyed the sites and loved the “gata” cakes he recommended. Altogether it took around 4 hours, and it was just what we needed. Thanks again to our driver, he was one of the nicest people we met in our trip to Armenia.
