Er is een middeleeuws fort Amberd op de zuidelijke hellingen van de berg Aragats, weg van de hectische steden. Het staat op de rotsachtige klif op een hoogte van 2100 meter, beschermd van twee kanten met diepe kloven op de kruising van de rivieren Amberd en Arkashen. De hoogte is 3402 m; de oppervlakte bedraagt 0,12 m²; de diepte is 9 m. Er is een meteorologisch station, uitgerust aan de oostkust van het meer.

Het kloostercomplex Saghmosavank ligt op de rechteroever van de rivier de Kasakh, in het dorp Saghmosavan. Volgens de overlevering is Saghmosavank gesticht door Grigor Lusavorich (Grigory the Illuminator).
Het Hovhanavank-kloostercomplex ligt in het dorp Hovhanavan, aan de rand van de kloof van de Kasakh-rivier. Misschien was het opgedragen aan de Jesus Baptist St. Hovhannes Mkrtich.

Er is maar één kronkelige weg die door de bergen loopt. Daarom is het onmogelijk om er in de winter te komen als alles bedekt is met sneeuw. De geschiedenis van Amberd gaat terug tot de 7e eeuw. Ondanks de uitstekende bescherming van Amberd, werd het aan het einde van de 11e eeuw binnengevallen door Seltsjoeken uit Centraal-Azië. De architectuur van Amberd is eenvoudig. De muren van het fort zijn gemaakt van massieve basalttegels die ooit dienden ter bescherming tegen granaten en belegeringswapens. In sommige plaatsen. Fundamenten van constructie en enkele muren waren bewaard gebleven in het fort.
Het Armeense alfabetmonument op de westelijke helling van de berg Aragats werd gebouwd in 2005 en is opgedragen aan de creatie van het 1600-jarig bestaan van het Armeense alfabet.

Getting a tour when you have limited time is the best way to know the city you are visiting. I had a great time being solo traveller since I own my time. Gagik let me spend all the time I need playing in the snow and even became my photographer. The tour itself was short since there only 3 destination in this package but the amount of time I spent on those places made it worth while.
