Met de auto naar de Royal Delft. Royal Delft, ook wel bekend als De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles, is de enige overlevende van de ongeveer 32 aardewerkfabrieken die rond het midden van de 17e eeuw in Delft en omgeving ontstonden. Aan het einde van de 16e eeuw werden pogingen ondernomen om Oosters porselein te repliceren met behulp van lokale klei, wat leidde tot de oprichting van aardewerkateliers in Delft en Rotterdam. Royal Delft, opgericht in 1653, zag door de eeuwen heen verschillende eigendomsveranderingen, waarbij het zich aanpaste aan uitdagingen zoals de concurrentie van porselein en economische schommelingen. Onder leiding van Joost Thooft bracht het bedrijf eind 19e eeuw de traditie van het Delfts Blauw aardewerk nieuw leven in en verwierf daarmee internationale bekendheid. Als erkenning voor haar inspanningen kreeg het bedrijf in 1919 de titel "Koninklijk". Tegenwoordig blijft Royal Delft haar rijke erfgoed eren en tegelijkertijd innoveren om de kunst van het Delfts Blauw te behouden en te promoten.

Tour guide Abdullah was great, friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us plenty of information about Delft and Rotterdam. The museum was well organized and very interesting with beautiful exhibits and helpful narration. Our favorite exhibit was the one on building materials and decoration.
