Wat is inbegrepen in onze verkorte rondleiding: - Begin met een briefing bij de koffie, waarin u de hoogtepunten van de dag uiteenzet. - Uw gids legt gedenkwaardige momenten vast door middel van foto's, waardoor blijvende herinneringen worden gegarandeerd. - Verken 'de Luchtsingel', de historische 'Delftsche Poort', het stadhuis, de markthal, kubuswoningen en de St. Laurenskerk. - Geniet van een spannende watertaxirit (afhankelijk van beschikbaarheid) voor een snel, schilderachtig uitzicht over de stad. - Stop voor snacks en drankjes om te genieten van lokale smaken. In de jaren 70 van de 20e eeuw wilden architecten met medewerking van de bewoners en andere gebruikers gastvrije woonwijken creëren als antwoord op het grootschalige en grijze modernisme van de architectuur van de wederopbouw na de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
In 2011 organiseerde de gemeente Rotterdam het eerste stadsinitiatief, een bestuurlijk instrument om bestuurlijke vernieuwing en burgerparticipatie te stimuleren. De Rotterdammers werden opgeroepen om projecten in te dienen die de stad zouden verlevendigen en de leefbaarheid in de stad zouden verbeteren. Voor de uitvoering van het project is een bedrag van 4 miljoen gereserveerd van het stadsinitiatief.
Een bezoek aan een toeristisch informatiecentrum waar u meer informatie krijgt over de stad en een warm welkom door onze burgemeester. Je TourGuy zal je door de tentoonstelling begeleiden.
voor de Tweede Wereldoorlog was er geen Centraal Station, maar wel vier stations rondom het centrum. In 1957 werd het centraal station op de huidige locatie geopend. In 2004 is gestart met een totale renovatie van het centraal station, in 2014 is het huidige eindresultaat opgeleverd. Het oude station kon de toestroom van reizigers niet meer aan.
De laurenskerk is het enige overblijfsel van het middeleeuwse centrum van Rotterdam. De laurenskerk is een kruising tussen een hallenkerk (alle gebouwen gelijk in hoogte) en een kruisbasiliek (hier zijn de zijtorens lager dan de hoofdtoren). De kerk werd gebouwd tussen 1449 en 1525.
De binnengevel van de Markthal is bedekt met een kunstwerk van 11.000 m² (twee voetbalvelden) van Arno Coenen en Iris Roskam, getiteld Hoorn des Overvloeds. Deze titel verwijst naar de Cornucopia, een hoorn uit de Griekse mythologie die symbool staat voor overvloed en verzadiging. Het kunstwerk toont sterk uitvergrote vruchten, groenten, granen, vissen, bloemen en insecten. Op de achtergrond zie je ook de Laurenskerk met toren.
In de Middeleeuwen een van de 10 stadspoorten die Rotterdam hier had. In de jaren '30 groeide de stad Rotterdam snel en stond de poort in de weg, omdat ze een betere doorstroming wilden voor het toenemende verkeer. Besloten werd om de poort ongeveer 100 meter te verplaatsen (een sloop van de poort stuitte op veel weerstand). Tijdens het bombardement in de Tweede Wereldoorlog raakte de poort zwaar beschadigd, een jaar na het bombardement werd de poort gesloopt, omdat deze niet meer af te maken kon worden. Sommige ornamenten van de oude poort zijn bewaard gebleven en verwerkt in de muren van de gebouwen op de hoek van het stadhuisplein.
Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog is niet veel van het historische centrum intact gebleven, maar de Oude Haven is gelukkig een van die historische plekken die bewaard is gebleven. In de haven liggen historische, charmante oude boten, terwijl op de kades een kleurrijke mengelmoes van gebouwen te vinden is.
Het witte huis werd gebouwd in 1889 en met een hoogte van 43 meter de eerste wolkenkrabber in België, Nederland en Luxemburg.
Momenteel is de ment een van de hotspots van Rotterdam. Er zijn veel cafés, eetgelegenheden en kledingwinkels. Het is ook een straat waar het een beetje draait om zien en gezien worden.

We were able to set the start time for our tour & when we met Jess, she was able to customise what we wanted to see & do. Jess contacted us the night before to confirm our tour/time/meeting point & that morning, she gave us more specifics & was on time. Jess’ English was impeccable! She had so much knowledge & was able to give us a personal touch. What was included was just enough to get a Dutch experience including riding the metro & trams, sampling Dutch fries, going through the cube apts, walking through the old port, seeing various architectures building etc. We couldn’t have asked for more. What a treat it was!

We enjoyed this walking tour with Jess as she gave us a good amount of Rotterdam history. She met us at the port and also brought us back with a few train rides and a good deal of walking along the way. We made a stop for coffee/latte, however there was no lunch or street food as advertised when we booked. The tour took about 4 hours.

the tour guide arrived over 15 min late and told us he lost his bag on the subway with his wallet, keys, and tickets. He could not take us on the tour. He left and came back 1/2 hr later saying that he accepted his fate and could start the tour but would extend 1 hr later than planned. We were very disappointed and did not get the tour. we called viator to ask for our money back. the local tour company did not answer their phone- we had hoped that they could send a replacement .

Despite the stress of losing his wallet, keys, and personal belongings, he came to meet your group, explained the situation transparently, and asked whether a short delay would be acceptable while he contacted the public transport company's Lost & Found service. After returning within the agreed timeframe, he was fully prepared to conduct your private tour and even offered to extend it by an additional hour so you would still receive the complete experience. Unfortunately, by then your group had decided not to continue. We also apologize that you were unable to reach us by phone. We missed Viator's call and immediately tried calling back, but were unable to get through the automated phone system. Jamal was worth a 5 star review for personality & knowledge. Really a great guide. Only reason for 4 star was that the tour was to include a street food lunch which we didn't get. There ended up being 8 of our friends that joined our group.

Mo was our guide and he was incredible. We knew very little about the city and learned so much. The tour was perfect for us. We had an infant with us and the timing and Mo, our guide, was a perfect fit. The tour size gave us time and attention to ask questions and not feel rushed.
