Dit is een unieke excursie met een gepassioneerde lokale gids. Dit bezoek is geschikt voor het hele gezin, jong en oud, zowel voor de schoonheid van de landschappen als voor de ontdekking van de Normandische cultuur. De geallieerde invasiestranden in Normandië vertegenwoordigen vijf stranden die gebruikt werden tijdens de landing van 6 juni 1944 tijdens de Slag om Normandië tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Een van de eerste dorpen die door Amerikaanse parachutisten werden bevrijd. Bezoek aan het centrale plein, dat op 6 juni 1944 het toneel was van hevige gevechten. De Amerikaanse parachutist John Steele hing twee uur aan de toren van de Notre Dame. Bezoek aan de kerk en zijn majestueuze glas-in-loodramen.
Bezoek aan het landingsstrand met de bijnaam Utah Beach (WN 5) waar 28.000 Amerikaanse soldaten op dinsdag 6 juni 1944 bij zonsopgang landden. Herbeleef deze strijd met anekdotes en historische feiten.
De operatie uitgevoerd door het 2e bataljon van de Amerikaanse Rangers en zijn kolonel Rudder, die in de ochtend van 6 juni een klif van bijna 30 meter beklommen om 6 Duitse kanonnen te vernietigen. De laatste waren gericht op de stranden van Omaha en Utah Beach. Een zelfmoordmissie met een gemengd einde.
Omaha Beach, de verdomde. Deze dinsdag, 6 juni 1944, hadden 32.000 Amerikaanse soldaten het doel om dit 7 km lange strand te veroveren, extreem verdedigd door het Duitse leger. Herbeleef uur na uur deze meedogenloze strijd die essentieel is voor het succes van D-Day.
Bezoek aan de meest bezochte militaire begraafplaats in Frankrijk waar 9388 Amerikaanse soldaten rusten. Een uitzonderlijk monument waar schoonheid en respect samenkomen voor deze soldaten die stierven voor de vrijheid. Vrije tijd in het bezoekerscentrum.

A wealth of knowledge and passion for history. Jonathan knew everyone's name within the first 5 minutes and we quickly felt like good friends. He accommodated our needs to move at a slower pace with patience and skill. We saw things we would have never noticed/seen without him. Highly recommend! Professional, prompt, and fun to be around.
Jonathan was an excellent guide. He had knowledge of all the little things that allowed us to learn the history of anything we looked at. He was informative on the drives to our locations, and had pictures from 1944 that helped shape our experience. As a family of 6, Jonathan was good with the kids. He helped us navigate the beaches and history of D-day, which was a bucket list item for my teen son. I appreciate his safe driving and great recommendations for other places to check out beyond our tour. He certainly made our experience much better, and it's well worth the investment to have a local who knows the area, the history, and the language. Highly recommend.
The best way to experience Normandy is with Jonathan! If you do one thing while visiting, make it a tour with him. He brought us to Omaha and Utah beaches, Sainte-Mere-Eglise, the American cemetery and the German cemetery. We learned so much, even my history buff husband was blown away. Also, the freedom of having him drive and explain things along the way gave us the opportunity to absorb information and really see what is around us, instead of having to figure out where we were going. We had our three children with us on the tour, and he was so patient with them, explained things so they could understand, and catered the tour to ensure they had fun, too. We couldn’t recommend Jonathan more - this was the highlight of our trip!

Our family booked a tour of Utah beach and the surrounding area with Jonathan and we could not have been more pleased. Jonathan was everything you want in a tour guide - an engaging storyteller possessing vast knowledge who is extremely passionate about WW II history. Even after our flight to France was canceled, Jonathan was able to modify our tour to accommodate our changed schedule which allowed us to see everything we came to Bayeux to enjoy. Jonathan made our visit an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Jonathan met and exceeded our expectations for a perfect private tour of the Normandy landing beaches. He shared knowledge of not just the D Day operations but the local areas as well. He spoke beautiful English. He even went out of his way to make sure my father met up with a friend from home on a tour from a cruise ship and I was touched over his sensitivity and concern for a rough time I had during the day for a personal issue at home. Do not hesitate if looking to book his tour. I am not a war buff but this will probably be my favorite day in France thanks to Jonathan.
We had an incredible experience with Jonathan. This was our third trip to Normandy and the first for my teenage sons. We went to many of the same places my husband and I have visited previously but discovered new experiences and learned so much. Jonathan is local and brings a fantastic perspective and has so many stories and a wealth of knowledge to share. He also helped my husband track down information about his best friend’s great uncle who lost his life on D-day and we were able to visit his grave in the American Cemetery.
