There is as a greater focus on American Army mistakes at Omaha Beach (which we all know did happen). But there should have been an appropriate focus on the challenges of Omaha as well (higher bluffs, better German troops, higher density defenses, etc). And an appropriate focus on the heroics of the day (of which there was no real discussion). If you didn’t know any better you would have come away from the Omaha beach tour thinking that it was an unsuccessful invasion. Maybe he was having a bad day…as we drove right by the Dick Winters memorial statue without even a mention. I’m glad we were paying attention to get a quick look as we drove by.

Igor was fantastic. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, but his passion for D-Day and everything that happened there was contagious, and gave us so much more than facts! It’s amazing to experience such an engaged and dedicated person who does this same or similar tour 4 or 5 times a week. His logistical planning was also very well thought out (seeing the cemetery first when there were very few people), and enhanced our entire tour experience. We couldn’t have had a better tour in any respect. Thanks Igor! And Gold Beach Tours.

We had a very good full day experience with Amandine to the American beaches (Utah, Omaha), the American cemetery, war museum and little town where paratroupers had landed. Note: there are also two beaches where the British landed and one where the Canadians landed. I was not aware that they all landed on different beaches, but it explained why all the visitors at Utah and Omaha were Americans! Amandine spoke very good English and had lots to share about the history, the attacks, and the aftermath, along with many explanatory photos and diagrams. She gave us a good lead-in to the visit on our drive to the area and throughout the day as we traveled to different sites. We were 8 people (us and another family with grown kids) and we got along well. The van was comfortable and had good AC, although I generally dislike vans someone has to sit in the third row since you can't see as well from the back. The only disappointing thing was the stop for lunch. I thought it would be a boulangerie in a cute little town, but it was more like a large roadside chain boulangerie. The food was OK, but it felt like we could have done better. All in all, it was an excellent tour and worth the money.

Great day. Knowledgeable guide. Interesting relay of information and good energy. I highly recommend the full day tour. I don’t know how anyone could do half of it in less time.

We had a wonderful experience! I have been on a few tours of the beaches before, and this one was very comprehensive. Our guide, Amélie, was very knowledgeable and dealt with an unexpected road closure without any issue. We were exhausted by the end of the day, but my history loving dad rated it as a 10/10!

Absolutely recommend this tour - our guide Lucas was knowledgeable about each location and incredibly friendly, plus he's a local who had some excellent stories about the surrounding area and some of his own family who lived through WWII in Normandy, not to mention he worked in the Utah Beach D-Day museum for several years before this. All the logistics were executed to a T, and Lucas brought along a binder with historical photos and knew a number of interesting facts and stories off the top of his head that really added to the experience. I felt like I learned a lot and I'm reasonably well-read in WWII history - this tour is definitely more than just a bus that takes you from place to place. The tours max out at 8 people, so the experience is also more pleasant than going with a huge bus of people, at least for me. We did the full day tour and it felt like it flew by - I might even recommend a few days for the real history buffs. Either way, 5 stars from me, both for the tour and for our guide!

A full day, historical and very interesting.

Our day trip from Bayeux to the Normandy Beaches and the American Cemetery was one of the highlights of our visit to France. Matthew was an excellent guide—knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about the history of the region. He brought the stories of D-Day and the Allied invasion to life while providing thoughtful context throughout the tour. His large van comfortably accommodated eight passengers, making for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. We highly recommend this tour and especially Matthew for anyone wanting a meaningful and informative visit to these historic sites.

Our guide with Gold Coast tours was knowledgeable, and wanted to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. It was difficult to hear and understand her, as she was soft spoken. Even though we asked her to repeat, we often could not hear what she was saying. Overall a good experience, but not one of the best Viator experiences we’ve had.
