Delphi, voorheen ook Pytho genoemd, is beroemd om het oude heiligdom dat rijk werd als de zetel van Pythia, het orakel dat geraadpleegd werd over belangrijke beslissingen in de klassieke klassieke wereld. Omphalos: Betekent het middelpunt van de aarde en wordt bewaard in de tempel van Apollo. Kleobis en Biton: twee broers uit de typische kouroi van Argos uit de 7e eeuw voor Christus. Standbeeld van Antinoos: portretteert de beroemdheid vanwege zijn schoonheid, jeugd en de favoriet van keizer Hadrianus als god. Dit werk wordt beschouwd als een van de mooiste voorbeelden van de neoklassieke stijl die nieuw leven werd ingeblazen in de 2e eeuw na Christus. De beroemde wagenmenner Iniohos: Behoort tot een beeldencomplex van een strijdwagen, bestuurd door vier paarden, met een tweede mannelijke figuur.

Our driver, Yannis, was excellent. So professional, informative and helpful. Delphi and the museum (air conditioned) were very interesting but be prepared to walk uphill for over a half mile through the site on stairs and stones. It was especially taxing in the heat. The lunch/dinner was wonderful, delicious in a beautiful setting. We drove through Arachova but were too tired to shop. It was cute but nothing special. The reason I gave the tour 4 out of five stars was that the 2.5-3 hour drive from Athens wasn’t mentioned. I should have googled it! FYI, we’re women in our 60’s.
Tass was an amazing tour guide with so much knowledge of Ancient Greece, the region and Delphi. We had a great trip and highly recommend Tass and his company.

We were picked up from our hotel and driven to this site on the way the driver relegated us with details about Greece Delphi and Athens We saw the site on our own and he dropped us back

Fantastic experience with our private guide, Yannis. We had a nice clean car, well taken care of along the way. Yannis was also very knowledgeable in history and mythology so we had the context behind what we were about to see at each stop. The views were stunning and the itinerary was perfect. Our lunch stop was also wonderful. This was the best day of our whole trip hands down and I would highly recommend it. Delphi was gorgeous and absolutely worth the drive out as well. We went in December and had great weather as well. Special thanks to Yannis as we could not have had a better guide.

We started our adventure in Athens with a friendly welcome from our guide, Peter. He gave us an overview of the journey and what to expect as we headed out of town. We knew in advanced that the road to Thermopylae was blocked due ongoing farmers protests. Honestly we were ok with not going there because it gave us more time in Arachova and Delphi. But Peter still gave us a history of the area and provided a video. The best part of the trip was Peter gave us options for how to approach each destination. Arachova is a very interesting mountain village with traditional architecture, great coffee shops, and nice stores. We enjoyed walking the narrow streets that overlooked a breathtaking mountain range. We highly recommend stopping there. Delphi was excellent. We toured the museum and then hiked the entire archaeological site. Again this was breathtakingly beautiful and it was very interesting learning the history of the site (which Peter did a great job of explaining during the ride so we had context when starting at the museum.) Peter then took us to a nearby restaurant where we had lunch. The meal was absolutely delicious and the view from our table overlooked the Gulf of Corinth. It was such a nice way to end the trip. Highly recommend this tour with Peter - an amazing guide and kind person who made this adventure extra enjoyable.

We really liked the experience, the views on the way to Delphi are beautiful especially from the Gulf of Corynto. Our guide and driver Yannis solved all our questions and was very friendly. The archaeological museum has a lot of history and is easy to get around. We travelled very comfortable in a Mercedes Benz. In total the experience was excellent!

Three of us did the day trip to Delphi two days ago with our driver Tas, whose knowledge of the history and the area was great. He provided entertaining and informative insight into the cultural and historical significance of Delphi and surrounding areas. The museum was so good and Delphi site amazing. Late lunch at a fabulous restaurant capped off a wonderful day and our new friend Tas made it all happen so effortlessly.
