A Perfect 7-Day Escape in Georgia – Highly Recommend!

Our 7-day tour across Georgia was an absolute dream! Organized by Visit Georgia with George, everything was well-planned and ran smoothly from day one. A huge shoutout to our guide, Beso, who made the entire journey special. He’s not just a guide – he’s a storyteller, a safe driver, and a warm host. His love for Georgia really shines through, and thanks to him, we got to experience the country on a deeper level. We explored so much in a week — from the lively streets of Tbilisi, through the historical corners of Kutaisi, to the sunny seaside vibe of Batumi. One of the highlights was the stunning Martvili Canyon, where the natural beauty was just breathtaking. Beso’s timing, flexibility, and attention to detail made all the difference. He also had great restaurant recommendations and shared insights that we wouldn’t have found in any guidebook. If you’re thinking about visiting Georgia, do it — and book through Visit Georgia with George. Ask for Beso if you can. You’ll be in great hands.

Unforgettable trip to Georgia

We travelled extensively throughout Georgia for 12 days covering many of the highlights with a group of four adults, two being more advanced in age. Both the guide, George, and the driver, Nugo, went above and beyond to show us their beautiful country. They were very knowledgable, caring and considerate in adapting the itinerary to suit our interests and physical abilities. One of the many highlights were the caves at Vardzia and both of the more elderly were able to make it up and down this extraordinary site with their help. Another was when they arranged a trio of folk singers to perform just for us with the backdrop of Bagrati Cathedral in Kutaisi. Their enthusiasm for their country and culture makes them the best ambassadors for Georgia. All four of us agreed that the best thing about this family trip was George and Nugo.

Gorgeous Georgia with the Georges!

My son and I had a wonderful tour of Georgia for 10 days this April-May. As I was looking for a reliable local tour operator, I found 'Georgia with George' on Instagram. After going through their reviews, I didn't think twice to approach them. It was the best decision. Right from the start, George #1 was helpful in giving us a customised itinerary covering all the highlights of this lovely country. He was patient and friendly in providing us a perfect itinerary covering all the things we wanted to do. He provided us with a great guide/driver- George #2. Thanks George! George #2 was a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and a great guide throughout. His skillful driving is much appreciated. During hiking in Kazbegi, he was kind in giving me a helping hand while passing the narrow uneven paths, making me feel safe. His motivating and encouraging words helped the nervous me to overcome my fears in doing zip lining activity, and the hikes in the Caucasus :) His knowledge of the land is amazing. He took us to some lovely offbeat spots where there were hardly any tourists. They would usually be a surprise to us, and we loved it! He took us to wonderful local restaurants and guided us in ordering the food. We enjoyed our meal times with him. He was adjusting to our needs all along. We even received some lovely souveniers from him! Last but not the least, he took some awesome photographs of us during the trip! By the end of the trip, George #2 had become our wonderful friend, whom we shall always remember. Thank you very much George for everything! All in all, the beautiful country with its amazing castles, medieval cathedrals and forts, spectacular Caucasus and the charming cities of Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Kutaisi, Stepantsminda, Sighnaghi etc were made extra special to us only because of travelling with 'Georgia with George'! Kudos to your company for providing us a wonderful Georgian experience which we shall always treasure.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your incredibly kind and detailed review. It was truly a joy for our team to host you and your son on your unforgettable 10-day journey through Georgia. We’re so glad that your trust in Georgia with George turned into what you describe as “the best decision” — that truly means the world to us. I loved helping you create your dream itinerary, and George #2 is smiling ear to ear reading your words. His kindness, patience, and adventurous spirit are just some of the many reasons we’re proud to have him on our team. Your story of hiking in Kazbegi, overcoming fears, discovering hidden gems, and enjoying authentic Georgian meals together is exactly the kind of experience we strive to create — one that goes beyond sightseeing and becomes a treasured memory. We’re honored to have earned a place in your hearts, and we hope that Georgia will always hold a special place in your travel memories. On behalf of both Georges and the entire Georgia with George family — thank you once again, and we truly hope to welcome you back for more adventures someday! Warmest wishes, George & the team at Georgia with George

Visit Georgia with George(s)

VISIT GEORGIA WITH GEORGE! Boss George made an excellent tour plan for us along with our Co-Leader Song. George C. was our guide for our days in Georgia and Armenia, and has all the knowledge and humor to keep us entertained throughout our trip. He took very good care of my parents ensuring they don't overtire and is enjoying themselves to the fullest. George made sure we are all comfortable, stayed with us when we checked in to our hotels and made sure we are all good before leaving us no matter how late the day is. We definitely made a new friend on our trip! Really appreciate my birthday surprise organized by him and my friends! Shnorakalutsun~ Madloba~ 🥂

GEORGIA - THE REAL DEAL

There are two Georges to this Georgia story. George I who runs the VISIT GEORGIA WITH GEORGE business and George II, our personal guide for nearly two weeks. The first George chatted to my husband and me on Whatsapp from our home in Sydney and talked to us about what we had in mind for the tour, the pace of the trip etc. He gave us good advice about where to go, how to criss cross Georgia in the time we had and lined us up with the main George of the story - our wonderful, personal driver and tour guide. So this review is mostly about George II. George II is in his 30's, is highly educated, has a young family, a comfortable car and is a great driver with excellent knowledge of the countryside, back roads, hidden gems and major attractions. He has an in depth understanding of the politics, culture and history of his country, interacts positively with locals and did everything he possibly could to make our trip the totally memorable holiday it was. He has a fabulous sense of humour and was excellent company - important when you're spending so much time together. There was never a sense for us that he was "just" our driver - conversations flowed easily and comfortably, his English is outstanding and we included him as much as we all wanted in meals, walks, drink breaks etc. We went our separate ways for dinner each evening. We slightly amended the trip originally planned to allow for "down" days when we didn't fancy being in the car or road tripping. Because we did spend a lot of time in the car. In hindsight, we possibly could have planned the geography of the trip itself slightly more efficiently but no regrets! We visited Georgian beauty spots, places of worship, historical buildings, wineries and vineyards, and all the time with George's interesting and knowledgeable insight. There was never a sense that it was all too dry and boring - on the contrary - we were fascinated to soak up as much as we could and George is very perceptive about personalities, energy levels, etc. George quickly grasped that for us, our trip was not just about getting from A to B and ticking off another place of interest but about special lunch spots, meeting Georgians and experiencing the amazing culture of the country. He took us off the beaten track to find wonderful local restaurants where the owners took us in and cooked their specialities. Out of the blue, one group of locals paid for our dinner one evening without us realising and we ended up drinking copious amounts of chacha (local vodka) with them, learning local customs and making toasts to the dead and living! On another day, a huge group of working men who were having lunch sent food to our table. We reciprocated with wine and chacha and ended up making speeches, toasting Georgia (*with Tamada's approval) and communicating via George and the waitress. *It seems that every large table of diners has a Tamada - the head of the table, controller of who says what and when, who toasts and drinks and traditional patriarch of Georgian Feasting. At least, that's our interpretation. So we loved the authenticity of the trip and getting slightly more than skin deep. At another lunch spot, we met the Leader of one of the Opposition parties who was canvassing the day before the General Elections. Traffic was chaotic on that day - bus loads of people from the countryside were being paid to travel into the city to vote. Luckily George navigated some hairy back roads but that was a loooooong day in the car. Initially we asked George I for hotel recommendations but I went out on a limb and booked hotels myself. I'm super fussy so I booked lovely boutique rooms (with a bath and shower!!!). There is lots of choice across Georgia from boutique to basic, depending on budget and requirements. We loved Rooms Hotels around the country. A consistently cool vibe with knowledgeable and helpful staff. We flew from Sydney to Tblisi via Dubai and left from Tblisi to London via Istanbul. I believe there are now flights from Australia to Turkey which would make Australia to Georgia via Istanbul much easier/quicker. Our trip took in Tblisi, Borjomi, Kutaisi, back to Tblisi, Telavi, Kazbegi and back to Tblisi - and with lots of stops and sights/sites in between. The countryside is beautiful, like all countries poor in parts, rich in history, every building seems to be covered in vines and the wine history and culture is (unexpectedly for us) everywhere. The Russian/Georgian history is palpable and there is much to learn for most Westerners. We travelled through the last two weeks of October and had perfect weather. Sunshine and blue skies almost every day, a vague smattering of rain one day and snow in Kazbegi - which we expected and wanted! I told George I'm always lucky but October is a great time to be in Georgia. Very few tourists, great weather, fantastic hospitality. The whole shebang! We bought beautiful original art in Tblisi and a bit of old Russian propaganda art. Getting it all back to Sydney was a palaver but it's all re-framed and hanging now so we are getting over the trauma!!!! There is probably more to add to this and photographs will follow. Hoopie & Mark
