In 1833 voer Charles Darwin langs het Beaglekanaal. Je kunt zijn koers volgen op een 2,5 uur durende catamarancruise vanuit Ushuaia. Je legt de bezienswaardigheden van de voormalige gevangenis van Ushuaia vast, bekijkt het End of the World Museum en bewondert onder meer het uitzicht op de Five Brothers en Olivia-bergen. Nadat je de vuurtoren van Les Eclaireurs hebt bereikt en de ruïnes van scheepswrakken hebt gezien, ontmoet je drommen zeeleeuwen op Isla de Lobos en de gevleugelde inwoners van Isla de Pájaros. Na het ophalen van het hotel stapt u aan boord van een catamaran bij de pier Don Eduardo Arturo Brisighelli om uw reis door de smalle zeestraat met de Tierra del Fuego-eilanden te beginnen. Maak een 2,5 uur durende cruise om rotseilanden, gletsjers, stadsoriëntatiepunten en dieren in het wild te bewonderen op het Beagle Channel, genoemd ter ere van Charles Darwin's schip Beagle dat in de jaren 1830 door de metaalgrijze wateren voer.
Terwijl de boot naar het oosten loopt en de kust omgeeft, geniet je van het Maritiem Museum, gehuisvest in voormalige gevangenisgebouwen en het End of the World Museum dat gespecialiseerd is in de natuurlijke en aboriginal geschiedenis van het gebied. Leer van begeleid commentaar aan boord over de beruchte oude gevangenis, die nu een replica toont van het schip van Darwin en de oorsprong van Ushuaia als strafkolonie. Passeer de besneeuwde besneeuwde toppen van de bergen van Olivia en Cinco Hermanos (vijf broers) die achter het industriegebied van de stad opdoemen. Geniet van panorama's van water, zee en bergen langs de Tunnel en Fique Ranch en de Encajonado-rivier. Op weg naar het centrum van het Beaglekanaal komen we de vuurtoren Les Éclaireurs tegen. Dit iconische rood-wit gestreepte baken, gebouwd in 1920, dient als symbool van Ushuaia. Op een van de eilanden zijn nog steeds de overblijfselen van het scheepswrak uit 1930, Monte Cervantes, zichtbaar, wat een laagje geschiedenis toevoegt aan de landschappelijke schoonheid van het gebied.
Op de terugweg naar het westen nadert uw catamaran stilletjes 'Isla de Lobos', de thuisbasis van honderden zeeleeuwen, pelsrobben en koningsaalscholvers die op kleine pinguïns lijken. Geniet van close-ups van de zoogdieren terwijl ze grommen, blaffen en misschien zelfs elkaar verdringen om territorium te claimen.
Ga verder richting Bird Island, waar u zich kunt vergapen aan de diverse vogelsoorten. Observeer de meeuwen, de majesteit van de koningsaalscholvers, de schoonheid van stormvogels, stoombooteenden en gigantische albatrossen, terwijl je onderweg tot wel 20 fascinerende vogelsoorten tegenkomt.
Bewonder het uitzicht op Martial Glacier terwijl u door Paso Chico (kleine passage) vaart om terug te keren naar de pier in Ushuaia. Vanaf hier kunt u genieten van het vervoer terug naar uw hotel.

This was an amazing trip. We saw sea lions, whales and a condor. The guides were very informative and the trip was well organized. The tour company even suggested we move our reservations one day earlier at no extra charge to us so we would have better weather. We were glad we did because the next day was cloudy and rainy so visibility may have been an issue had we not followed their advice. Highly recommend this tour!
Magnificent trip to do with the family... we hired through Penguin Expeditions... it is a beautiful 3 hours... we were lucky enough to spot whales... we would definitely do it again... one of the best of Ushuaia
Indescribable. The place is beautiful, the guides are nice, I consider this tour unmissable. Outside the boat you can enjoy the view better, but inside it is hotter. I recommend the outside lol

I loved the tour so much that I went twice! It's the kind of trip we don't do every day. There's cold, snow, penguins, sea lions... and the special touch that the catamaran has with drinks and food, making the experience even more welcoming. I loved!
Speechless! It was so beautiful that we went twice! The view is stunning and seeing all those animals up close is like no other. I love the cold and animals, so for me it was very exciting. I will come back as many times as I can. Furthermore, inside the catamaran there are drinks and food, which makes the trip even more welcoming.
The trip is worth it, although there are too many people on the boat and the bathrooms are dirty, there comes a time when there is nowhere to sit because people leave their backpacks, which makes it uncomfortable. Hotel pickup is super convenient and the views it offers are very beautiful

Very poorly organized and the price was far too high. You pay 28 francs for the same tour. Far too little information.
