Navigatie in het Beaglekanaal met minitrekking USHUAIA
Beschrijving
We varen vanaf de plaatselijke toeristenpier en steken de brede baai van Ushuaia over tot we het Beaglekanaal bereiken via Paso Chico. Daar zullen we rond het eiland van de vogels zeilen, waar we de Fuegian avifauna zullen kunnen waarderen. We zullen observeren: Skúa's, Wenkbrauwalbatros, Dampeenden, Cauquenes, Kokmeeuwen en Grijze Meeuwen. Daarna naderen we Isla de los Lobos waar we zeeleeuwen met één en twee haren kunnen observeren. Beide eilanden behoren tot de Bridges-archipel. Aangekomen bij Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse (The Illuminators), zullen we de kolonies van keizerlijke aalscholvers en rotsaalscholvers kunnen zien terwijl we luisteren naar het verhaal van het zinken van de SS Monte Cervantes die hij speelde in 1930. We zullen een afdaling maken in Puerto Karelo, behorend tot de Bridges-eilanden, waar je echte Yámana-schelpen kunt bezoeken. Deze begeleide wandeling duurt ongeveer 20 minuten en concentreert ons op een panoramisch punt waar zeer goede foto's kunnen worden gemaakt.

We beginnen de tocht vanaf de toeristische pier van onze stad en varen richting het Beaglekanaal. Onderweg genieten we van het panoramische uitzicht op de kust van Ushuaia. We zien de belangrijkste gebouwen, het Maritiem Museum (voormalige gevangenis), het Museum van het Einde van de Wereld, het industriegebied en de bergen Olivia en Cinco Hermanos.
We varen naar de Bridges Islands, waar we stoppen en van boord gaan. Het is belangrijk om te weten dat de wandeling die u tijdens dit bezoek maakt, geen enkele moeilijkheidsgraad heeft en voor iedereen haalbaar is. Naast de ervaring van het wandelen op een klein eilandje in het midden van het Beaglekanaal, is het doel om de volgende drie fundamentele attracties te waarderen: Yámanas Conchero: archeologische overblijfselen van de oorspronkelijke bewoners van het Beaglekanaal. Slechts een paar meter van de kade zijn er pakhuizen van de nederzettingen Yámanas of Yaganes. We gaan er een binnen en, op basis van de uitleg van de gids, zullen we ons voorstellen hoe ze leefden. Bovendien kunnen we door een snede in de wand van de schelpenhoop de gelaagdheid van de weggegooide mosselkleppen beter begrijpen en observeren. Tijdens het parcours van interpretatie bewonderen we de bijzondere ontwikkeling die planten, bloemen en vruchten doormaken in dit bijzondere ecosysteem.
We gaan weer aan boord en varen in zuidwestelijke richting, richting Isla de Los Lobos. Vanaf de boot kunnen we genieten van het uitzicht op zeeleeuwen die hun vaste leefgebied in een prachtige omgeving observeren. We varen verder en varen richting Bird Island, de habitat van de Magelhaense aalscholvers en de keizerlijke aalscholvers. Ook is het een ideale plek om zeevogels te spotten. We vervolgen onze weg naar de vuurtoren Les Eclaireurs, in de gelijknamige archipel, waar in 1930 het schip Monte Cervantes verging.
De terugweg voert ons via Paso Chico, langs de Túnel en Fique Estancias, waarna we terugkeren naar Ushuaia, met uitzicht op de indrukwekkende structuur die Monte Martial en de gelijknamige gletsjer aan de stad verlenen.

Very crowded on catamaran. Landscaping is scenic but a little boring. Expected to see more wildlife than birds.

During high season, boats can operate at full capacity, but we always aim to provide a comfortable and enjoyable journey. Wildlife sightings in the Beagle Channel can vary depending on weather and natural conditions. While birds are very common, sea lions and other marine life are sometimes seen along the route, though sightings can never be guaranteed. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us continue improving our services.
Much depends on the weather conditions, if the sea is rough it can be annoying. The views and sights of the animals repay the possible discomfort.

Not as interesting as I thought it would be, for me a little oversold. Slow boarding and not sure why, the line kept stopping and starting. Guide talks were mainly in Spanish with a cut-down version in English. The 'walk' is a 100m to a sign for the town name. We didn't really get to do the Beagle Channel, just a small part of it, I thought we would have gone around the coastline further. Got to see the sealions from the boat though. Boat size was good with comfy seats and big windows and lots of outside space too.

We had a great experience, it was nice to see the city from the water perspective. Walking on the island was nice as well. We were lucky with the weather. Unfortunately we did not spot whales.

It's a big ship, nothing spectacular but if you wanna chill on a boat it's a nice programme. There is no real trekking, it's a 10 metres walk. The provider pushes people out who don't pay for the photos the professional photographers do on the boat. We saw penguins from far and sealions too.

Well organized, comfortable boat, beautiful landscapes, guide in eapanhol and English. We left at 9:30 and returned 3 hours later directly for lunch at a dozen good restaurants in the region.

On a beautiful calm day it was a great introduction to the landscape as my first holiday activity. The island visit was just a short path out and back but taking a moment on the beach was nice.

We were able to see lots of animals from sea lions, penguins, cormorants, and even some whales. The boat was comfortable and even made one stop to get off and explore an island.
