Navigatie door het Beagle Kanaal, Los Lobos en de Bruggen

De cruise begint bij de Tourist Pier van Ushuaia en vaart door het Beagle Channel met panoramisch uitzicht over de stad, waaronder bezienswaardigheden zoals het Maritiem Museum en Mount Olivia. We bezoeken de Bridges Islands en stappen uit bij Karelo Island voor een makkelijke wandeling. Verder naar Los Lobos Island observeren we zeeleeuwen in hun natuurlijke habitat. Vervolgens passeren we Los Pájaros Island, de thuisbasis van Magelhaense en Keizerlijke aalscholvers, ideaal om vogels te spotten. Vervolgens bereiken we de vuurtoren van Les Eclaireurs, vlakbij het scheepswrak van Monte Cervantes. Op onze terugweg via Paso Chico zien we Estancias Túnel en Fique, en eindigen de tour met uitzicht op Mount Martial en zijn gletsjer. Deze cruise biedt een unieke kans om de biodiversiteit en geschiedenis van het Beaglekanaal te verkennen.

We beginnen de cruise, vertrekkend vanaf de Tourist Pier van de stad en op weg naar het Beagle Channel. Terwijl we wegvaren genieten we van het panoramische uitzicht over de kust van Ushuaia. We spotten meteen de belangrijkste gebouwen: het Maritiem Museum (een voormalige gevangenis), het End of the World Museum, het industriegebied, en Mount Olivia en Mount Cinco Hermanos. We gaan naar de Bridges Islands, waar we stoppen en uitstappen op Karelo Island. Het is belangrijk op te merken dat de wandeling tijdens dit bezoek gemakkelijk en toegankelijk is voor iedereen.
We varen zuidwestwaarts, naderen Los Lobos Island, waar we vanaf de boot kunnen genieten van het zicht op zeeleeuwen, hun permanente habitat observeren in een prachtige omgeving.
We vervolgen onze reis door het Beaglekanaal naar de vuurtoren, richting Los Pájaros Island, een habitat voor Magelhaense aalscholvers en keizerlijke aalscholvers en een uitstekende locatie voor het spotten van zeevogels.
We gaan verder naar de vuurtoren Les Eclaireurs, in de gelijknamige archipel, waar de Monte Cervantes in 1930 schipbreuk leed. Na het genieten van de Beagle Channel cruise naar de vuurtoren, beginnen we aan onze terugreis. De terugreis voert ons door Paso Chico, met uitzicht op Estancias Túnel en Fique. We keren terug naar Ushuaia, met uitzicht op de imposante Mount Martial en de gelijknamige gletsjer als de stad. Mis deze fantastische ervaring niet, die u de kans geeft om meer te weten te komen over de biodiversiteit van het Beagle Kanaal en een deel van de geschiedenis van dit beroemde Fuegian kanaal.

Nothing special. Just a few sealions but that’s it. No pinguïns. You can better spend your time on something else.
We were fortunate to enjoy a perfect day in autumn: bright sunshine and no wind, we sailed gently around the island to observe the friendly sea lions.
Great short excursion for our needs. We bought our tix off TripAdvisor. The tix clearly stated where our pickup location was. We arrived about 30 minutes prior at the pier hut and received our boarding passes and directions on where to locate our particular vessel. We board the Ezequial AB vessel which is an enclosed double decker catamaran with great viewing from inside. We saw a huge group of cormorants and the. On to the lighthouse where we saw the sea lions. There were many amazing photo opportunities. We also stopped at a small island to take photos of the Beagle Channel. The tour was 3 hours and departed and returned on time.
Do not book through Trip Advisor. You’ve been warned. Book directly at kiosks in Ushuaia in the wharf, ie Rumbo Sur, Tolkeyen, others. Trip Advisor outsources to “Gray Line” which does not exist as a tour provider, but contracts out again and does tell you who they contract out to. They never inform you who you need to approach about honoring your tickets. After 30 minutes of being tossed between all of the tour operators, one said they would honor the Trip Advisor tickets. By US standards, this would be considered fraud. If you can deal with the hassle of not knowing when you will be picked up at your hotel, and not knowing which operator will honor your tickets, the tour is otherwise wonderful and the scenery and wildlife is spectacular.

It’s a very expensive activity for what it offers: they take you by catamaran to a nearby island where there is a viewpoint that is nothing otherworldly, then they take you to a super small island where you can see the sea lions and cormorants, they leave you there 15 minutes to take photos and then they take you to see the lighthouse, which is not something otherworldly either, sincerely very boring and takes longer than it would actually take, but obviously they have to justify the cost. IT'S NOT WORTH IT...
When I booked with Viator I got a confirmation from the tour operator, Rumbo Sur. They advised there was no hotel pick up (though the tour description offered one), and that the stand where I was to collect my ticket from was only a few blocks away. Once I arrived and checked in I was given a laminated ticket with Rumbo Sur’s name on it, then was directed to join a queue beside a Rumbo Sur branded vessel. Turns out that was not the catamaran I had booked, and instead Rumbo Sur had outsourced to a much larger catamaran operated by TOLKEYEN PATAGONIA TURISMO, and had I booked with them in the first place I would have paid more than half (2400 pesos) of what paid on Viator (4500 pesos/USD $76)
<p>you do not see penguins on this tour. the boat was extremely crowded and you could not hear the information. we went on another tour the next day, and it was 4.5 hours this tour is actually only 2.5 hours and we got to see penguins and the boat is much nicer.</p>

<p>It was nice trip. The sea lions were so close to town. It was suprice to us. This trip was including pick up from the hotel, but it did not work out. Noone came to pick us up and it was very hard to get contact how was responsability of this tour. It is much cheaper to buy this tour from the harbour. In winter time the penguins are not around Ushuaia. That should be told before.</p>
