Deze tour neemt je mee door de tijd, net zoals Diana deed met haar Outlander-verhaallijn. We zullen samen ontdekken welke inspiratie ze haalde uit deze bijzondere plekken hier in de Hooglanden. Adembenemende landschappen, historische monumenten, beroemde meren, kastelen, tuinen en distilleerderijen. Deze tour geeft je een echte Schotse Highland-ervaring. Vergeet niet je camera mee te nemen... Weet je niet zeker wat een Sassannach is, kom het ontdekken :) Go Highlands is alleen geschikt voor kleine groepen van maximaal 7 personen tijdens onze tours, wat betekent dat u altijd de absoluut beste ervaring krijgt. Onze eerste stop is bij de Clava-steenhopen. Clava Cairns zijn een goed bewaard gebleven begraafplaatscomplex uit de Bronstijd met doorgangsgraven; ring cairns, curb cairns en staande stenen in een prachtige omgeving. Clava Cairns of de Prehistorische begrafenis Cairns van Bulnuaran van Clava zijn een groep van drie Cairns uit de bronstijd in de buurt van Inverness. Clava Cairns, een enorm belangrijke en uitzonderlijk goed bewaarde prehistorische vindplaats, is een fantastisch voorbeeld van de verre geschiedenis van Highland Scotland, die ongeveer 4000 jaar teruggaat.
Onze tweede stop... is een bezoek aan de krachtig bewegende plaats van de laatste Jacobite Rising – de laatste en meest schrijnende geworpen slag om op Britse bodem te vechten tussen een Jacobitisch leger en regeringstroepen. Verken het interactieve bezoekerscentrum, bekijk fascinerende artefacten van beide kanten van de confrontatie en beleef de strijd in de meeslepende surroundcinema. Op 16 april 1746 kwam de laatste Jacobitische Opstand tot een bruut hoogtepunt. Jacobitische aanhangers, die de Stuart-monarchie op de Britse tronen wilden herstellen, verzamelden zich om de regeringstroepen van de hertog van Cumberland te bestrijden.
We reizen langs de kust van Loch ness naar Drumnadrochit vanuit Inverness en stoppen natuurlijk voor een foto of twee. Misschien gaat Nessie ook mee :)
Great Glen is zowel de nieuwste als, trots, de kleinste ambachtelijke distilleerderij van Schotland. Deze zachte, aardse gin maakt gebruik van de elementen van een wilde plek en is hun liefdesbrief aan de natuur... dus laten we stoppen en een klein voorproefje nemen. LET OP - De Distilleerderij is gesloten van 1 december tot en met april 2024. Gin-proeverijen zijn echter nog steeds mogelijk in de winkel tegenover de distilleerderij.
Het prachtige kasteel is het beste te zien en te fotograferen vanaf een afstand. Het is een kasteel vol wilde natuurlijke schoonheid en 1000 jaar geschiedenis - Urquhart Castle biedt een voorproefje van de Hooglanden op hun meest dramatische manier.

Best tour ever! Sara, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable providing us with so much information and history at each location as well as on our travels throughout the day. Sarah was very accommodating, making the tour very personal for us. She was fun, interesting and a pleasure to be with for the day. She left us with a lifetime memory.
We had an amazing day with George, the most experienced Scottish tour guide ever! He informed us of so many important and interesting facts about Scotland and its history and the highlands. We were blown away with his candor and ability to be both informative but make it a fun day for everyone! This tour was with my husband and two other couples. I highly recommend (especially if you’re an outlander fan like me).
Amazing tour. We have travelled all over the world and this may have been our favorite tour ever. George is a true Scotsman and knew Outlander inside and out. He took us to Culloden and also to the stones at Crava. We discussed Outlander and Scottish history. In addition we saw Loch Ness (but no monster was seen) and he took us to see and feed beautiful Clydesdale horses. We saw a spectacular Castle and did a tour of the beautiful gardens there. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better guide and it was a fantastic way to spend our day while staying in Inverness.
We had a great experience from this trip, thanks to Alastair who has rich knowledge about the history of these places and, in general, about Scotland and UK. Thank Alastair and George as well for arranging the time effectively with great care.

Excellent tour guide, George, knowledgeable, humorous and very nice. We saw “Craig na Dun” and Culloden including the Fraser Clan stone, the battlefield, monument and the museum. We stopped to see some beautiful horses and toured Cawdor Castle which is beautiful. I recommend this highly! Go Highlander can be booked directly on their website.
Our guide, Sarah, was excellent! Her knowledge of the area was extensive, and she shared information in a way that was both engaging and informative. She was clearly passionate about the history and sights we visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable. My only criticism concerns the ticket pricing. Given the cost of the tour, I was a bit surprised to learn that admission to the castle and the battlefield museum required additional fees. In fairness, I may have overlooked the details when booking, but I had assumed the tour was all-inclusive except for lunch. It would be helpful if those extra costs were highlighted more prominently during the booking process so guests know exactly what to expect. Overall, Sarah did an outstanding job, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
Dress for every kind of weather as it can change quickly. There are lots of opportunities to learn about Highland culture which we really appreciated.Our guide George was a fantastic with so much valuable knowledge. He really made sure we had a great experience.
