I was very disappointed in the boat ride. They had an audio piped throughout the boat, which could not be heard because everyone who was not interested in the information was talking over it. They should have headsets so that those who want to listen can do so. If you’re interested in seeing the Urquhart Castle, should go by land, and take a guided tour or walk around and read the few signs posted. But , the boat ride itself, was uninformative, because it could not be heard.
Our bus driver was a great local resource who pointed out a number of things on both the way to the cruise and after. Also, the guide on the cruise was also very informative. Both had a very good sense of humor which further enhanced both trips. The castle was also a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this trip to everyone. We would also recommend wind and rain gear, because it is Scotland and the weather could change from minute to minute.
Fantastic tour. Picked up at the bus station. Our driver annex guide was very enthusiastic and knew how to tell fun facts along the way. Everything was clearly explained. Cruise over loch ness was beautiful, put on a good coat because it is very windy. Here's hilarious commentary from the steward on the ship. Urquhart castle is beautiful. We had an hour there and that was actually too short to watch everything quietly. Half an hour more would have been better for us. Return trip also listened to the stories of the driver, was also really funny. All in all a recommendation
The driver was unbeatable!!!! He provided us with a lot of information, funny and witty. He drove absolutely safely, was punctual, very attentive, and we felt excellent.
Tour guide was knowledgeable and funny. The tour was well-paced! We had a great time - would definitely recommend!
The day trip was a very entertaining and enjoyable experience. Our guide had many stories to tell. He was well prepared and even brought snacks for the hairy coos.
The beginning went very well. We did the cruise and the tour of the castle. As indicated in the reservation, after one hour, we returned to the dock to go back to the boarding point where the bus driver was supposed to be waiting for us. On the dock, none of the other people from our group were present so we did not know if we should take that one or not. In short, the boat staff had about twenty people board and they left without us. There, we were told that there was no way to take the boat anymore and that we had to return by bus to Inverness… so that is what we did and no one was worried about knowing where we were or if something had happened since we were not at the meeting point. So in the end, we paid 118 pounds even though we returned by bus for 4 additional pounds. We therefore found that there was a problem with organization and price given the service.
Unfortunately this experience was ruined by the coast guard drop in. With the helicopter hovering over the boat for nearly half of the boat ride, our toddler was screaming in pain due to the noise and his sensitive ears. The whole boat experience was difficult to calm him down when we weren’t able to move inside the cabin. We wish we could have had a better experience and kinder staff to support families with small children.
The Jacobite Cruise was one of the highlights of our trip to Scotland! Everything was well organized, the staff were friendly, and the scenery on Loch Ness was absolutely breathtaking. We loved the stop at Urquhart Castle and would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the Highlands.
Hi there, Thank you for your 5 star rating and review! We are so pleased you enjoyed the cruise, and the views. We will pass your kind comments onto our crew, they will be delighted! We hope to welcome you back on board with us again soon. Kind regards, The Jacobite Team
Our bus driver gave us a lot of commentary along the route. He even stopped the bus so we could pet and feed a highland cow named Hector. The highlight of the trip for me. Highly recommend!
