Deze tour neemt je mee op een reis door de tijd – van de spirituele hoogten van Khor Virap en de schoonheid van Noravank aan de klif tot de oude geheimen van Vogelgrot, de thuisbasis van 's werelds oudste schoen. Voeg een voorproefje van het Armeense wijnbouwerfgoed in Areni toe en je hebt een eendaags avontuur waarin geschiedenis, legende en smaak op onvergetelijke manieren worden gecombineerd.

Veel mensen weten dat Armenië het eerste christelijke land ter wereld is. Het werd officieel aanvaard in 301 toen Grigor werd vrijgelaten uit de gevangenis van de hoofdstad, die hier eerder was. Hij zat hier 13 jaar gevangen vanwege zijn christelijke geloof. Als laatste hoop van de zieke koning genas hij hem, waarna de koning het christendom als staatsgodsdienst accepteerde. Tegelijkertijd opent zich vanaf hier het beste uitzicht op de berg Ararat. Heel dicht bij Ararat geeft je de mogelijkheid om de hele structuur van de berg te zien en de schoonheid ervan te bewonderen.
middeleeuwse Armeense smaak en architectonisch talent werden vermengd in Noravank, gesticht in de 9e eeuw, dit klooster ontwikkelde zich in de 13e en 14e eeuw. Omgeven door hoge roodgekleurde bergen en gebouwd van stenen uit die rotsen, Noravank harmonieus complementeert het lokale landschap, uniek in zijn soort te blijven.
Op de terugweg stoppen we bij Areni Winery, waar we verschillende wijnen zullen proeven.
De grot ligt op 12 km van Yeghegnadzor, op de linkeroever van de rivier de Areni. Het bestaat uit 3 hallen, heeft een oppervlakte van ongeveer 500 m², waarvan het grootste deel nog niet is verkend.

Another perfect day with One Way Tour, we took plenty of eyes! Hasmik was great and warm with us, and even climbed up to the Jermuk chairlift for a snowball game. And an impeccable organization usually sticks.

Had a great day trip to Khor Virap, Noravank etc today with guide Anahit Zorian (Ana). She has been informative and patient, as tour was conducted both in English and Armenian. There was also some long drives between sights, but she managed to pass the time playing some mixture of local & international music. The driver has also been careful on the road.

Had a fabulous tour today with our guide (Hasmix). She was sweet, insightful, informative and knowledgeable. Although it was a full day tour, lasting slightly over 12 hours, I found the sights and stops worthwhile and fairly uncrowded. This is in contrast to my tour of Garni and Geghard monastery the day before. We were also given clear instructions at each sight to stay with our guide if we wanted stories about each place or to go off on our own to explore AND when to get back to the bus.

Absolutely fantastic tour!!! We had a wonderful time and our tour guide Hasmik and driver Marvel were 10/10!!! It was very well paced, we didn't spend too long or too little in one place and didn't feel rushed. Hasmik was very friendly, helpful and answered all our questions happily. Highly recommended!!!
