Bezoek de prachtige natuurlijke landschappen van de Grote Kaukasische bergen op de zogenaamde Georgische militaire weg naar Rusland. Tijdens de tour bezoekt u het 17e-eeuwse gebouw, het Ananuri-fort, de Jinvali-dam, het Gudauri-vriendschapsmonument en de Gergeti Trinity Church in het dorp Kazbegi/Stepantsminda. De reis van Tbilisi naar Kazbegi kan 3 tot 5 uur duren met verschillende stops op verschillende plaatsen om foto's te maken of gewoon om te wandelen, uit te rusten of te ontspannen op het Jinvali-meer, de Aragvi-rivier, het Gudauri-gebergte of andere plaatsen die u graag zou willen zien of meenemen foto's. Tijdens de tour kun je lunchen of dineren in een lokaal Georgisch familierestaurant. Kosten voor het restaurant, het huren van paarden en de lokale jeep zijn niet bij de prijs van de tour inbegrepen. Houd er rekening mee dat de weg van Gudauri naar Kazbegi in de winter soms gesloten is vanwege hevige sneeuwval. Het kan dus onmogelijk zijn om de dag van de Kazbegi-rondleidingen door het dorp te bezoeken.

Onze eerste stop is bij de Jinval Dam om foto's te maken. De Jinvali-dam werd in de Sovjettijd in de jaren zeventig aangelegd voor waterkrachtcentrales. De naam van de Dam komt van de stad die vlak voor de dam lag. Nu ligt deze stad onder water en de toeristen noemen het ook wel onderwaterstad. Het was een oude, antieke stad vol archeologische vindplaatsen en kunstvoorwerpen die nu onder water staan. De lokale bevolking kreeg de huizen om niet ver van de Dam te wonen. Het niveau van de dam stijgt in de zomer in het regenseizoen en daalt in de winter in het droge seizoen. Van deze stad is slechts één fort bewaard gebleven omdat het hoger gelegen is, op de heuvel. Onze volgende stop is het Ananuri-fort.
Ananuri Fortress is een middeleeuws fort uit de 13e eeuw. Het werd gebouwd om de stad Jincali te beschermen tegen de vijanden en de wegen naar de bergen af te sluiten. Het heeft hoge muren en torens om te vechten en een woontoren. Er is ook één kerk in het fort met de naam Saint-George. Saint-George was beschermer van Georgische legers, forten en steden.
In Gudauri stoppen we om foto's te maken bij het Gudauri Vriendschapsmonument. Eigenlijk ligt het naast Gudauri. Het Gudauri Vriendschapsmonument, ook wel Panoramamonument genoemd, werd in de Sovjettijd van 1083 gebouwd ter herdenking van 200 jaar oude vriendschap tussen het Georgische en Russische volk. De geschiedenis van Georgië en Rusland is op de muur geschilderd. 200 jaar geleden werd er een vriendschaps- en samenwerkingsovereenkomst gesloten tussen Georgische en Russische koningen, zij noemen dit ook wel een protectorschapsovereenkomst, maar nadat de laatste Georgische koning stierf, schaften de Russen het koninkrijk in Georgië af en regeerden Russische gouverneurs over Georgië tot de Russische Socialistische Revoluties, totdat de Communisten aan de macht kwamen. Dit monument herdenkt dus de 200-jarige relatie tussen Georgië en Rusland, gemaakt in propagandastijl uit de Sovjettijd.
Eenmaal aangekomen in het dorp Stepantsminda kunnen toeristen kiezen of ze naar de Gergeti Trinity Church willen wandelen of een lokale jeep willen huren om de kerk op de Gergeti-heuveltop te bereiken. De Gergeti-kerk werd gebouwd in de 14e eeuw, renaissancetijd. Eigenlijk was het een periode waarin Mongolen de hoofdstad van Tbilisi bezetten en mensen naar de bergen renden om te ontsnappen. Deze keer bouwde Georgiër de kerken in de bergen. Er is een fantastisch uitzicht vanaf de Gergeti-kerk naar het dorp Stepantsminda en de Kazbegi-berg. Houd er rekening mee dat we in het voorjaar een lokale Jeep nodig hebben als er sneeuw ligt in de bergen. In de winter is de weg vanwege sneeuw soms afgesloten voor alle auto's. De kosten voor het huren van een jeep zijn niet inbegrepen in de prijs van Tours. In de zomer en herfst hoeft u geen jeep te huren, omdat de wegen sneeuwvrij zijn en de weg open is voor alle auto's.

- Houd er rekening mee dat de weg van Gudauri naar Kazbegi / Stepantsminda soms in de winter gesloten is vanwege de zware sneeuwval, ook in maart en april. Het is dus misschien niet mogelijk om de Kazbegi-rondleidingsdag te bezoeken. In dit geval, als u een hotel in Stepantsminda heeft geboekt, dient u in dit geval een alternatief hotel in Gudauri of Tbilisi te hebben. De weg van Stepantsminda naar Gergeti kan ook gesloten zijn vanwege de sneeuw en onmogelijk te bezoeken.

We decided to do a day tour to easter Georgia - Anauri and Gadauri because we wanted to suprise our step son's girlfriend with a marriage proposal. I have to say that none of this would have been possible without George our guide. He helped us with everything and even became our photographer. He became part of the family. We just got back from an incredible trip to Georgia But as my children say Georgia was incredible but George was even greater. From the minute we landed until after we landed back home (when he checked in to make sure we arrived safely) he was so kind to us- he actually became part of the family he is so kind sensitive nice and insightful our trip was the most amazing ever all in his credit! Tour of Tbilisi was special to us personally. Thanks to George that he made the tour memorable for us. It was an awesome 3 full-day trip outside Tbilisi with friends and the helpful guide, George. He is well informed about his country may it be religion, history etc but just do not ask him about flowers. Lol. He would also go beyond his duty as a tour guide by physically assisting you while going up or down or just crossing. We were a group of 5 women and he helped us all. And for that, I highly recommend him, if you are looking for a knowledgeable tourist guide. He also speaks english well, hospitable and recommends great places. Thank you, George. Started with the cableway to view from top old historical places, walk high staircases to get on top to view the waterfall. View the bridge from lovers which lock their locks and throw the keys in the river. To seal their Love for each other. Tasted blue warm wine. Bought lots of little Georgian fridge magnets, keyrings at the little kiosks....

<p>The couple that took us on this tour were lovely and very informative. We could stop wherever we wanted to stop. It was a 12 hour round trip but well worth especially the 4 wheel drive up the mountain to see Kazbegi monastery. They were a couple to travel with.</p>
