Deze eendaagse tour vanuit Inverness voert door enkele van de mooiste landschappen van de Highlands, langs het prachtige Loch Ness, voordat u het Glenfinnan Viaduct bereikt. Uw Glenfinnan tour vertrekt vanuit Inverness en reist naar het zuiden, langs de kustlijn van Loch Ness voor onze eerste stop van de dag, Urquhart Castle. Geniet van een korte tijd om foto's te maken op deze iconische locatie, met een prachtig uitzicht over het beroemdste meer van Schotland, en misschien zelfs Nessie te spotten!
Onze tour gaat verder en stopt voor het hoogtepunt van onze dag; het Glenfinnan Viaduct. Omgeven door bergen van de oevers van Loch Shiel, Glenfinnan Monument symboliseert een van de belangrijkste gebeurtenissen in de Schotse geschiedenis; de 1745 Jacobitische Opstand. We brengen ongeveer een uur door bij het Monument; ruim de tijd om de geschiedenis van de Jacobieten te leren kennen en je iconische foto’s van de beroemde brug te maken. De locatie is niet alleen beroemd om de Harry Potter brug; Loch Shiel was de locatie van het 'Zwarte Meer'; kijk of je een 'grindylow' onder de oppervlakte kunt zien die onheil veroorzaakt! Het is ook het decor voor de prachtige vlucht van Scheurbek, scènes uit het Tovenaarstoernooi en ook het prachtige meer waar Zweinstein is gevestigd.
Vanaf Glenfinnan en zijn spectaculaire viaduct en monument reizen we westwaarts naar Mallaig op de 'road to the Isles', oftewel 'Rathad nan Eilean'. Het gebied werd gerund door de Clan Donald, en wordt gezegd dat het een van de meest spectaculaire landschappen ter wereld heeft, met zandstranden, dramatische heuvels en een onvergetelijk uitzicht op zee, het is er een die u niet mag missen! Aan het einde van de weg bereiken we Mallaig, een schilderachtige vissershaven. Mallaig komt van het oude Noors, 'Mel Vik', wat een zandduinbaai betekent. Breng hier tijd door voor de lunch, proef misschien wat van de lokale zeevruchten en geniet van het uitzicht op zee.
Na Mallaig reist onze Harry Potter tour oostwaarts, naar Loch Ness en stopt bij Fort Augustus. Geniet hier van versnaperingen, met prachtig uitzicht over het meer,
Stop voor foto's van het Commando Memorial, gelegen aan Spean Bridge.
We bezoeken de Falls of Foyers, een indrukwekkende waterval die doorloopt tot aan Loch Ness. Vergeet je camera niet voor deze mooie stop!
Onze laatste stop van de dag is bij Dores Beach, het meest noordelijke punt van Loch Ness. Het strand biedt een geweldig uitzichtpunt op het meer; vanaf hier kunt u helemaal naar beneden Loch Ness zien - ideaal voor het spotten van tekenen van Nessie! Na Dores keren we terug naar Inverness, waar uw 1-daagse Glenfinnan tour eindigt.

It was a day filled with adventure. Was really nice to see the “Hogwarts” train. Our tour guide was Caz. And she was awesome! She had a great knowledge of history, was funny and great people person. And I also enjoyed our lunch stop at Mallaig.
I'd like to say a massive thank you to our guide Fiona from Timberbush for an unforgettable tour from Inverness! The trip to the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct (yes, the one with the Hogwarts Express!) was absolutely magical. Fiona is a true professional and a treasure trove of fascinating stories. She didn't just talk about Harry Potter – she brought Scottish history, local legends, and the stunning landscape to life in such an engaging way that the journey flew by. The tour was genuinely interesting and far from your typical cookie-cutter sightseeing. And I have to mention the coach – it was really comfortable, with plush seats, spotlessly clean, and large windows that were perfect for taking in all those breathtaking Highland views. A huge thank you to Fiona and the whole Timberbush team for such a well-organised trip. If you're ever in Inverness, don't hesitate to book with them – I can't recommend it enough! 10/10.
This was our very first booking, and it could not have been better. Our trip started from Inverness, traveling alongside the majestic Loch Ness through some absolutely incredible scenery. A major highlight was seeing the Glenfinnan Viaduct just as the steam train was passing through—truly magical. We then moved on to Mallaig, where we enjoyed fantastic fish and chips and a leisure stroll through the town. What really made the trip, though, was our tour guide, Stewart. He was the absolute star of the day! His candour, enthusiasm, and deep knowledge of Scottish culture and history were outstanding. Stewart made our experience truly memorable. Highly recommended
A lot of driving but a lot to see. Expect nature, hills and lochs. You should do the boat trip in Mallaig, if not its a long stay.
Doreen was absolutely outstanding and made this one of the highlights of our trip to Scotland. She didn’t just recite historical facts. She brought the lands to life by sharing the history, the folklore, and the everyday culture that makes this part of Scotland so special. We learned about local traditions, modern life, and the people who call these islands home, which made every stop much more meaningful. She was warm, approachable, and happy to answer every question with genuine enthusiasm. Doreen, Thank you for giving us a deeper appreciation of Scotland and its incredible islands. We did the Glenfinnan Tour with Brendon and it was a lovely experience! The tour included a lot of wonderful spots to explore and Brendon had so many interesting stories and facts to share with us. He really went out of his way to show us all of these beautiful places (and more!) and took great care of everyone taking the tour that day.
Tour was wonderful! Our guide Caz went out of her way to show us amazing locations and provide excellent commentary. Well paced- not too much sitting on the bus. Scenery was spectacular and Caz was knowledgeable and hilarious.

The itinerary was excellent, with stops at Urquhart Castle, the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, beautiful Loch Shiel, Mallaig, Fort Augustus, the Falls of Foyers, and Loch Ness. Every stop offered incredible scenery and plenty of opportunities for photos. The pace of the day was well planned, and Caz made the long drive enjoyable with fascinating stories and local knowledge. It was a memorable experience from start to finish. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see some of Scotland's most spectacular landscapes while learning about its rich history and folklore. A truly unforgettable day!
